Why wouldn't he? Its a needed tax deduction. This deal will not end up costing him a thing.

The highest tax bracket is less than 40% so it will cost him at least $6K per year out of pocket. He may get an additional deduction on his Minn tax return, but that would be small incrementally.

When Fleck turns around and sells it to Minnesota for $100k we're gonna look silly.

He can have "Row the Boat."

I wonder though - why he wouldn't come up with a new Mantra or Motto at his new job?

Interesting, so we now know that having the ability to use the symbolism of his son is worth only 50k to him. I guess there are times you can put a price tag on something you absolutely shouldn't.

I hope the scholarship deal is renewed after it's five-year agreement. It's a win-win for WMU and Fleck plus it gives him a good tax write-off. Six grand is pocket change in relation to his five-year contract with the Gophers.

It looks like he has asked that the scholarship go to a walk-on (smart), and that he intends to continue it in perpetuity.

The five year plan is smart on his part, considering that in five years we will have a new President and likely a new AD.

i'm hearing there are stipulations regarding the scholarship. We can only award to a walkon, and we have to release an accompanying youtube video

Celebrity announcing scholarship must be an A-lister.

Would like to see an accounting of how much it cost to paint RTB everywhere, and how much it will cost to remove same.

And then explanation of where the money is coming from to do the latter.

The $600,000 buyout will more than cover it.

In MLive article Beauregard said "some" of that money was going to salary pool for new staff.

I would imagine that the "more than" is going to the salary pool.

If we'd got more for the RTB rights ALL of the buyout could have gone to pay new staff.

Plus, there's a possibility that Fleck might move on from Minny at the end of his five-year deal. The Gophers are another stepping stone for Fleck to go to an upper-level D1 program.
