Idaho Asking State for Athletic Dept. Bailout
This is going great, Chuck: https://tubsattheclub.com/2017/02/13/ui-...-sky-drop/

The funny thing is, donations are down, but they're not nearly as far down as they will be when Idaho actually drops. The hit will be far worse at that point.

Mismanagement on display in Moscow.

I am sorry Idaho, it should have never happened. But its probably best for everyone if you struggle enough that no other admin tries it.

Some journalist needs to do an in depth investigative report and expose this President

If I didn't know better, I would say this is all a ploy just to prove that a move down is actually costly and not anything that's going to save money in athletics.

If scheduling as an independent is not an issue for Idaho, then I don't think there's any cogent argument to go back to the Big Sky. Form a scheduling pact with NMSU and UMass and add on 3 or 4 money games a year and I think it's doable.

It's doable, although it gets less doable all the time as time ticks by and we kick away opportunities -- for example, we lost our 2018 home game with Wyoming when we made the announcement and it's now NMSU's. At this point I'm sure a 2018 schedule would be a big challenge to put together.

It's apparently Idaho's lot in life to provide many examples to other athletic departments of what not to do. We're so proud.

Update -- Idaho motion tabled until April, because Idaho has no clear plan to reduce its deficit. Super job, guys.

RE: Idaho Asking State for Athletic Dept. Bailout
The A.D. tried to delay the FCS move and was already working on a schedule.
It was odd the president didn't consider a short run of independence to keep fans engaged.
It would have helped with the arena fundraising and really had no downside.
He was asked about the direction of the athletic department at his interview.
Seems like he was hired to drop the football program to FCS.
Another odd thing is no plan to save money after the drop.
He has the option of dropping swimming and diving it is not a Big Sky sport.
Petrino got a raise which he deserved and dropping and losing is a terrible idea.

No plan to save money is interesting I could think of a couple ideas.
Drop swimming and diving 22 football scholarships and reduced travel expenses for football. Overall the cost of FCS vs FBS doesn't hold up because of reduced revenue.
