I'll take it! Or the CBI! The team needs reps together, against another team with a coach and referees...in other words, not a pick up game at the Finch. They'll all (maybe minus Dedric) be back next year - that 2 seed game is a good chance to do things you can't simulate, like execute a gameplan as a team.

This team needs the gym more than anything.
But yeah, that other stuff is fine too.
Someone find Dedric a squat rack and find a shot doctor because a couple of guys need one.

Slightly above most expectations. So really not sad. The sadness was already here.
I'll take it. It's a step in the better direction.
But no CBI, please.

Dedric would be on some draft big boards if he proved capability of dunking the ball. Love him - great player - but dunk the ball man!

This team started to exceed expectations but reality and lack of depth, shooting brought us back in line with expectations.

A first round road game in the NIT and not that far away from being an NIT bubble team, which the 7 and 8 seeds are.
It ain't exactly a sunshine daydream.

RE: Tigers 6 seed in NIT Bracketology
In fairness to the question, even though I'm not sure the poster actually wants a response, I think preseason that a home road to NYC in the NIT would've been the baseline for a successful season for most fans who understand talent levels.
IMO

Our starting PG was an afterthought coming out of HS. Our SG is still finding his way. Our SF is essentially a Freshman. Our PF is really a 3 and wasn't even that good in JUCO. Our 5 is a really solid college player. Our only true "big" has been injured for 5 years. Our grad transfer isn't any good. We have a freshman backup PG. Our backup wing was a nobody coming out of HS. We have a walk-on on scholarship.
That may sound harsh, but so be it. This team isn't very talented. But they work their butts off and play really hard. To even have a chance at the post-season is an accomplishment.

And the schedule is 80% garbage and as several media members have pointed out, they usually have the best player on the floor, if not the top two...look I get what you're saying...anything can be painted either way.
But to act like this team is rubbish is inherently dishonest as well.
As was said all summer long...folks will realize how much RAW talent has been undercoached.
So yeah, while these guys had flaws and hadn't developed, they had the ability.
Does the team still have flaws and a severe lack of depth - sure.
But it's not Savannah State either.
Go ask the other 300+ DI coaches out there if they'd like to add Dedric Lawson to their roster.
Tell me how many NOs you get.

I'm not saying we're Savannah State.
But this team is not very talented compared to our peers. More talented than a lot of teams, sure. Most nights - in non-con games - we do have the best player if not best 2 or 3. We tend to win those games.
Those aren't the games that get you over the hump. Fact of the matter is, we are not much more talented than Tulsa or Temple or UCF. Pretty even. Those games could go either way...and they are the ones that make a difference between NCAA and NIT. If we beat Providence, Ole Miss, Monmouth, UCF, Temple, Tulsa. We'd be an NCAA team. Fact is...not talented enough to do it. Memphis sin't much different than those squads. IMO
This is an NIT roster. Making the NIT isn't sad...it's reality.

That's fine - we're saying the same thing just a different way.
I come from an angle that believes he should've done a better job in the summer and we wouldn't be having this convo anyway.
Like I said, IMO, a home road to NYC in the NIT was my baseline expectation.
But I like our talent and think Tubby is a good enough coach.
He just needs more players and that's on him and the staff.
