I agree. No outrage from me on UC's ranking there.

UC and SMU basically swapped places in Kenpom. SMU is now 12, UC is now 21.

For Sagarin, UC is now 18th.

I agree with the ranking, just crazy how long it took to creep up to 11 and then one loss on the road to a top 20 team and you drop 7 spots. Oh well.

UC's been down around 20 for a while in kenpom. Not been as dominant in conference play as SMU on a game to game basis (despite winning against all of the team they are much better than).

I also wonder how much the NCAA preliminary bracket reveal affected this. If AP and Coaches poll voters see UC outside of the Top 16 in the seeding and others ahead, I think that would definitely affect their placement in the poll. Which is absolute garbage.

I said this exact same elsewhere. UC basically lost twice perception wise this weekend.

People also forget we were #11 by 1 point last week. We are less than 100 points for being top 15 now and 200+ points ahead of #19 SMU.

So really we kinda dropped 3spots. : )

About what I expected. Interestingly,, that Texas Tech beat writer still has us at 19 (which is where she had us last week) after losing.

I'm fine with both poll positions. The AAC effectively doubled their national coverage by virtue of keeping one more team in the polls.

I guess I'm more concerned about this team's ability to finish strong in February against some lackluster conference foes. UC needs to win handily @ USF using a lot of bench players. Then beat Tulsa Saturday by twenty points if they want to keep running with the big dogs in the top 25. It's crunch time--time for this Bearcat team to shine on the big stage.

I think anywhere between 15-20 is fair for us but that's an absurdly low ranking for SMU. I think they're a legitimate top 15 team

While I agree, UC is really their only big win all season. Hard to get any real notice because of that.

Kind of don't understand how we drop 7 spots losing to Top 25 team on road,Wis. drops only 4 spots losing at home to unranked Northwestern??

Looking at Wisconsin's resume, their best win is either IND or Mich basically 2 teams squarely on the bubble of making tournament.

Wisconsin has a bunch of wins over NCAA tourney caliber competition (not all of them will make the tourney)... Tennessee, Syracuse, Oklahoma, Marquette, Indiana(2x), Ohio State and Michigan are all really good wins. A couple of those are on the road as well.

We can nitpick teams, but in all honest UC was probably a bit overrated last week. Between 15-20 is about right.

Wisconsin doesn't have good wins so much as "name brand" wins.

I watched the OSU/Michigan game the other night, and I did not come away with a favorable impression of either squad. Care to elaborate on your comment a little?

Same thing with Oklahoma and Indiana.

a late season slide is a legitimate concern given the lackluster late season performances in the past by Mick's teams. His teams in general have not performed well in late Feb and March. I've wondered if they are just out of gas.

2015-2016 5-5 in the last 10 games
2014-2015 6-4 in the last 10 games
2013-2014 5-5 in the last 10 games
2012-2013 4-6 in the last 10 games
2011-2012 7-3 in the last 10 games
2010-2011 7-3 in the last 10 games
2009-2010 4-6 in the last 10 games

Not horrible but not inspiring either.
