Southern Miss takes the sweep.

Total 3 game attendance was 9,825 for an average of 3,275 per game. Was hoping for 10k total but we fell just short.

Pitchers allowed 24 walks on the weekend (and hit eight more) for 32 free passes.

Hitters struck out 31 times.

Steve Peterson retires and MT baseball falls of a cliff. Pathetic.

Stout for baseball. Team keeps winning will not be long to see 10,000 or more walk thru the gates during weekend series. Atmosphere at the Pete is great, especially in this weather

Charlotte loses game three 6-3. We had the same number of hits but theirs were more timely. It was standing room only again today. I can't wait to see how we match up with #4 South Carolina Tuesday.

Baseball is definitely the bell cow sport for CUSA. Hoping we get a couple of teams ranked and 4 or more at large bids.

Pleased with attendance this week. Should be in the 15-20 range after week 1.

I was curious, and here are the top 5 attendance weekends (so no midweek games - OM, MSU, Bama, LSU, etc) at The Pete:

1) Rice (2007) - 12,620, avg. 4,207
2) Tulane (2005) - 12,584, avg. 4,195
3) Rice (2016) - 11,871, avg. 3,957
4) Rice (2011) - 11,667, avg. 3,889
5) CSF (2009) - 11,563, avg. 3,854

4-11 in these 15 games unfortunately.

I'm hoping for that and plan on attending. The fact they're in the middle of the week might have an impact, though.

Winning helps in the attendance department. Going back to last year here's some "home field advantage" stats for USM at The Pete:

28-4 last year, 3-0 this year so we've won 31 of our last 35 home games
17-2 in CUSA home games last year (13-2 reg season, 4-0 CUSA tournament)
14 wins in our last 15 home games with the last loss being the Friday night La Tech game
9 home wins in a row

UAB plays Alabama St at home on Tuesday so we should start 4-0.

I'm not helping attendance, but I can watch the game from the balcony of my apartment when we're playing at the downtown stadium 02-13-banana

Tulane was #1 (almost wire-to-wire before the CWS) in 2005. I believe Rice was at some point in 2007, as well. CSF made it to Omaha in 2009.

Rice was preseason #1 in 2007. #7 when they came to Hattiesburg.

The State series next year will shatter attendance records. Likely 6k for 3 days with an overall total around 18-19k.

Charlotte 3B Jackson Mims named C-USA Hitter of the Week. ECU transfer had a great debut weekend as a 49er.

After taking 2 from WVU, we travel to #4 South Carolina tomorrow.

Next year has all the makings of shattering attendance records. Along with the 3 game series vs Ms State, we should have UL-Lafayette*, Rice and La Tech for weekend series. In previous years those series have always drawn well and to have all 3 plus Ms State being a weekend series instead of just the single game in Pearl will make it one of the best, if not the best, home schedules of all time.

**assuming we have UL-Lafayette for a weekend since we are going there this year for a weekend series**

We will not be playing ULL in 2018, unfortunately. This is a return trip for when they came to Hattiesburg in 2014.
