THAT^^^^^ is the concern. We did what was needed, for the first half of the schedule. This part of the schedule which we knew would be the toughest we have lost 3 of 5. The most concerning part to me, is the stuff that has plagued us in those losses, we have not fixed IMO.

I think everyone has legitimate "reasons" to be concerned. It's the level of concern, I believe, is the debating point. There's nothing wrong with fans with a vested interest to have concerns about their team. If we didn't have concerns, or expectations, we'd be a bunch of self-centered a-holes. We're not. Let it play out for now. Everyone has made good points. It's just our job to stay behind the team and enjoy the product. I'm not gonna say it's wrong to be critical in game either. That's proof we're watching with a high level of interest.

We have a great team, a great coach, but they're humans.

Perspective.

Let's go Seahawks!!!

I guess I just try not to let myself get TOO worked up about what a group of 18-22 year olds are doing, unless it's in the positive realm (rushing the court never gets old). We have some things to figure out but nothing that's unfixable.

I'm proud of this team and what they've accomplished under Keatts. Despite this rough stretch I think we're going to win the CAA title this year and make us all even more proud.

The game on Thursday @ Northeastern will go a long way towards making us either feel better in the short-term or start to worry. That much I'll admit. Huge game.

My point is that losing to W&M and Elon was a fairly predictable outcome. Would it have been better if we had lost to CoC on January 19th rather February 2nd? We're likely to finish the season at 14-4 in conference, and I still feel confident that we'll be in the CAA championship game.

I would not be too concerned with the record now, simply because they now only need to only finish first and get the No1 seed-any chance of an at large is gone. What does concern me is the lack of half court defense and jacking the ball on the first pass if that. I think they have to play better defense to win 3 games in Charleston. I first saw it vs Clemson but I wrote that off to getting beat by better players but it is more fundamental than that. I don't see them as a down and dirty defensive team, coupled with the quick shoot three ball you can give up a ton of points in a hurry. Hate to call them soft but they have to get a lot tougher on both ends of the court. I also think Bryce is now the best player on the team and its not close-imo. He is the guy that can play both ends at a high level.

Through my Green and Gold glasses, I see that you guys are 2 possessions from being 13-1. So that makes UNCW the prohibitive favorite in the tournament. Still, every team has another team that would rather not face. I think for W&M it is Towson(or perhaps any team on the road 05-mafia). The Tigers often shoot just as a precursor to get the rebound and their extreme physical style is likely to leave any team facing them with trouble the following day, even if they win. The Tribe might really need to win the game at home against Towson for seeding. Thankfully, it will have 6-7 days to recover after that game.

Northeastern, JMU and Hofstra could still be battling to avoid the 7 and 8 slots. I guess technically Towson, Elon and W&M are not clear of those slots either yet. Still cannot believe that Northeastern has 3 games with you and Charleston in their last 4.

RE: Game 25- @Elon 4 PM Saturday 2/11
What we, as fans, may be experiencing is a loss of great expectations. Long winning streaks, mid major cred, buzzer beaters, flirting with a top 25 ranking for the first time in school history and at large potential are all gone. The game winners aren't falling anymore, and we aren't coming through in the big games. It was fun while it laste

So now, we're back to the reality of a decent but not great mid major team. We went from discussions of coming out of the regular season with 1-2 losses, to now hoping we don't end up with five. The NIT bid that comes with a regular season title is still a possibility, but now seems it may be slipping away.

So, here we are. We have two games left with NU, a game with Hofstra and a game with Towson left on the schedule. All of which seem like a possible loss. No more looking ahead as fans, and now a lot more hoping we can somehow keep the magic we had last year, along with that magic NCAA bid.

We're still exactly what we've been all season: A very good mid-major and, overall, the best team in this league. I really, really don't get what we're bemoaning here.

Look at what's going on right now. Mullet is one of the more positive posters in this thread. Mullet. If that doesn't get people off the ledge, nothing will.

Not being negative at all, just explaining where the concern is coming from. We were on a "we're something special" high, and it was fun and we thought could be unprecedented at UNCW. When that disappears, it's not unusual for the hardcore fans who were discussing and following this daily to come crashing back to reality.

I'm glad we're not JMU, been there...done that. I'm thrilled to be in our position. But to be honest, it doesn't feel like the lock it was before, and that's not as fun.

That's the truth, not negativity.

04-cheers

Back before conference play started, it seems the discussion on here was we would lose 2-4 conference games. Was I dreaming?

Exactly. We are now back to reality. A reality we leapt out of for awhile. It was fun while it lasted.

Just watched the Elon game again. Crucial BS foul with 1:22 left in the game was called on Cacock for over the back on Eddy. We were down one when he grabbed the rebound, and would have had either a put back or another chance to score and tie or go up by one. Not even close to a foul. Cacock went straight up without pushing off or leaning on Eddy, but Eddy threw up his hands like he had been fouled.

Instead, they hit two ft's and go up by 3. That kept them up 1 instead of us going up 1 and neither team scored after that.

Definitely some crappy calls, but if you don't put yourself in the position for it to matter vs. an inferior team........ it won't!

Cacok fouled on that possession. He pushed another player out of the play, but I agree that he didn't foul Eddy.

On the other end of the floor, Flemmings was fouled. Elon player fouled him on the rebound without a call.
