Keatts didn't say why after Mike lead him into it. Keatts simply said that Bryan and Ogbodo played well. That's strange. C'mon Coach...give us something! Hope he's not hurt or in the dog house. It could just be that he felf that he wanted others to get a chance to play. JMU was down by nearly 30 with 4 minutes to go and scored the last 13 points. Hawks have to finish strong.
He might be saving Devontae's legs a bit for March. Sometimes it's easy to forget he's a sophomore big man and not a superhero. Protecting him from wear and tear is a must. And games like these are exactly the opportunity to do just that.
It was also nice to see Marcus and Chuck play about equal minutes in the 2nd half.
And Chuck seemed to play well, who'd a thunk it! Maybe he's finally testing out different big man lineups in case we need them?

Not to turn this into another "Chuck Thread" to protect what's left of SN08's sanity... but glad Chuck saw the floor and AGAIN, proved valuable.

More importantly to me, he's protecting CaCock when given the op, but also getting the other big men ready as they will likely be needed down the stretch.

I loved that moment when, after a whistle for a foul, a JMU player took a shot at the hoop, and Chuck just grabbed it out of the air before it got to the basket. He was having none of that sh*t.
Reminded me of the 2008 Celtics team. Kevin Garnett and co. wouldn't let teams take those "practice" shots during a play stoppage. They'd swat it away.
Chuck is among the team leaders in pure swagger. That's for sure.

Other than that "play", I just don't see it. Bryan 2-2, 3 rebs, 1 foul in 15 mins. Chuck 0-2, 2 rebs, 3 fouls, 4 mins.

I don't have a problem with Marcus being Cacok's backup but when he's not playing well (which is often in my opinion) I think Ogbodo should get some minutes.

He showed serious swagger in the COC game. 5 points 3 rebounds in only 6 minutes and was a defensive presence production per minute is off the charts there.

Cacock took a hard body shot into their center in retaliation for a shot their center had gotten away with. Happened right in front of our bench. Keatts got mad and yelled at Cackok. Davonte was pulled shortly after that. Don't know if it had anything to do with not playing anymore or not.

Cacok was pulled because the JMU big took the ball coast to coast and he didn't stop him. Shortly after that the same big tried to do the same thing and someone else on our team took a charge and forced a turnover. Coach was mad that Cacock played bad D.

I really like it when y'all are watching the game this closely as fans...love it! If Cacok was slack, then he needs to get it right. He's the most talent bigger player that we have but he can't watch. And, I noticed some of that myself actually. It's hard to get mad at a guy that does as much as Devonte does, I love him and he's a hero to my youngest son! Still, you got to play hard and he usually does.
As far as Chuck...I'm a big fan but he didn't do his thing last night defensively at all IMHO. He needs to body up aggressively and live with the consequences. I've seen him play hard on D and I loved it but I just didn't see it. Heck, I would have been okay to see him foul somebody, but swat it to the freaking moon one good time. Marcus gets a bad rap on here, but he will body up and play tough. Elmore didn't get into his player like I've seen him do. I need to see some toughness from these guys.
Hawks didn't finish the job. It should have been 25 points plus and that kind of effort isn't good enough. I LOVE defensive effort and I didn't see in in the 2nd half at all.

Hawks have lost three of their last five games. We still have the regular season title in our control. It has become apparent that when we fall in love with 3'a and jumpers we struggle. Need to work inside out, and for sure need to get the ball in the hands of Cacock on offense for some shots.
