Probably true, but it does help demonstrate the true health of an athletic program.

Dan Patrick and his boys are in Houston for the Super Bowl and were at the UH/UCF game to satisfy a bet the Danettes lost. They had to dress as cheerleaders and lead a cheer at a college bball game. IMO they got off easy because they got to do it at Houston.

Now I know UH's basketball attendance has been called out plenty on this board, but after watching the above video I feel compelled to post. Watching that video, and quite frankly any televised game at Hoffheinz, is embarrassing. It would be really great if you guys could pull yourselves together down there. This league NEEDS you.

I know pigskin is King down there, even bigger than that I'm sure. I get it. But you're telling me that in a metro of over 6 million people, your athletic department can only manage to get ~1,000 people in the building for a game featuring two of the better teams in the conference?? The reported attendance was 3,681 but we all know actual is never close to what's reported.

Now I know many of us Cincy fans were pretty unbearable when this league was born, but I think it's safe to assume that most of you can empathize with how we felt having worked so hard to get where we were only to have the rug pulled out from under us. We have A LOT of pride in our city and University. Not just our football or basketball or baseball teams. Your basketball team is 16-7 (7-4), has one of the most noteworthy coaches in our league, and is apart of a program that has a pretty rich history of success. We need you guys...The American Athletic Conference needs you guys to help carry the torch of this league. A good start would be showing up and supporting your university. And so I plead to all Cougar fans:

Come the f*** on!

I love it when fans of a team write stuff like this.
Absolutely hilarious

You mean like transferring out of a top public business school to come co-op at UC, being apart of the steady climb of UC's academic profile over the last 10 years, attending all the football and basketball games I'm able to, being a good ambassador to my university, and giving back when I am able?

Is that what's so funny?

You are really struggling for a pat on the back. Snowflake.

that's me - the white dot in the yellow circle. to be fair there was a fair crowd at the start that bailed at halftime. the game wasn't good, the temp was dropping and light rain was falling in front of a big storm that rolled through town about 20 minutes after the game ended. that pic looks taken deep in the second half.

Based on the yardage numbers seen from the scoreboard, this looks to be taken at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Nope. Our AD has done very little to spur current attendance. They seem content to wait for the 60 million dollar renovation of our basketball arena to jump start attendance when complete in 2018. I think they should be doing things to generate student attendance right now--but beyond one game with a student tailgate (that was well attended), the AD has done nothing to spur student attendance. I think it's criminal that the AD does not have multiple programs designed to lure a captive on campus student audience of nearly 10K to the games.

AD's need to get creative these days with regards to students. UC has an app for students to check in on during the games to gain priority points for important games like UC/X, or NCAA tickets. For UH, if students want football tickets, do something like that.

UH's basketball attendance problems are fixable, but the AD does need to show at least SOME effort to do so. The product is good now. UH has history. If the UH AD puts in even a little effort, I bet it would start to bear fruit.

Keep reaching there Kronk. UC had it's problems this past year, but attendance isn't really one of them. I have a suspicion we drew more fans for one terrible football game we got blown out in after 13 straight quarters of not scoring a touchdown than UH basketball has actual butts in seats for an entire basketball season. Yikes.

That's a great idea. My personal opinion is our AD is fairly unimpressive. He is adequate, but nothing special. I would never have given him a 100K raise like the administration just did. He's basically a competent operations guy and offers little beyond that.

Three honest questions for the UH fans posting in this thread:

1. Do you have season tickets?

2. Regardless, have you been to at least one game this season?

3. If so, how many?

Me, I've been a basketball season ticket holder since I graduated in 1992 - 25 years. I attend better than 90% of all home games.

Kronke, vcoog, AttackCoog, IsaiahGlover, any other UH fan reading this, what about you?

I have season tickets. However, I live in Cypress and given the time I get off, its just too hard for me to make many weeknight games. Im usually at all the weekend games. That said, there are around 10K students living on or just off campus. Thats a captive audience. There is no excuse for not having programs that result in having 500-1000 students at each game. Once you get the students there you can create the unique college basketball atmosphere that will draw the alumni and casual college basketball fans in the area. It all starts on campus.

No, no, 0. Basketball is boring as is and college basketball is literally less entertaining than a flaming turd.

Football is the only thing that matters here. If UH dropped basketball few would really bat an eye.

RE: Come the f*** on, Houston
Showing the second half of a UC football game in a season that the fans were done with the head coach and in a game we were getting drilled as some sort of rebuttle to the pathetic UH basketball attendance is stupid

UC averaged 34K a game for a 4-8 team in a stadium that seats 40K. Could it have been better, sure, but overall, not bad.

UH attendance in hoops isn't even close to capacity or even close to half capacity. Hopefully that turns around for you guys. I think you have a good coach and are making strides.
