RE: SEC revenue over $40 Million per school for 2015-16
I'll go on record saying that the entertainment industry is fragmented, and it will only continue to fragment in the future. Rutgers' problem is that it's in NYC. There are simply much better things to do than watch RU football. The same can be said for northwestern and most HUGE market teams. Communications technology and entertainment technology will eventually bring NYC's offerings nation-wide. Then only the elite of the elite will thrive. Everyone else will fight for their niche.
FB also has the double whammy of a demographic problem. You're lucky if you're taking a family to an NFL game for less than $500. How many families can afford that on a regular basis? So how many kids grow up in stadiums? Also, participation is declining. Health and safety have always been issued w/ football, sure, but it's a bigger deal in some time periods than others. Unfortunately for the NFL, this is a time period where it's a big deal. Moms won't let their kids play.
And lastly, FB is extremely powerful right now. It has a long way to fall.
I guess that's all the long way of saying that FB won't continue to be as dominant moving forward. It won't go away, but it will fade.
