I'd rather he have plenty of time to recover. We have enough bodies for Tulsa.

I believe we are likely to need fewer big men against Tulsa, so it would be a perfect game to rest Brooks.

RE: Brooks
If this report is correct, I have to believe he sits for at least the Tulsa game. UC has had more than it's share of season ending injuries in football and basketball in recent years and deserves some good news. This is a special season in the making and Brooks will continue to play a key role off the bench.

RE: Brooks
Having watched Tulsa a couple times they are not the type of team whereby his not playing should be a big impact. Not a really big team.

It's interesting sometimes when a key starter or reserve is unavailable, you often see other players pick up the intensity a bit to compensate. I just saw a few minutes of Kansas/Kentucky but I know KU had a suspension before that game that we might have assumed would make UK a prohibitive favorite playing at home.

Big Fella was a steal.

Not sure how the big schools weren't after him

He has surprised me on the offensive end.

I thought early on he would just be a shot blocker who could grab some boards and give 5 fouls

I definitely expected him to have the normal problems of freshman with his body type, bad footwork, awkward, and and really out of control. I am pleasantly surprised with how well he has played.

He has a really soft shot, which is always the sign of a good shooter, really surprised the so called big timers were not after him.

RE: Brooks
All of this means that Quadri will get some backup minutes on Wednesday night if Washington or Clark get in foul difficulties. If Quadri limits his 27-foot jump shots 30 seconds after entering the game, we should be all right.

Agree with his first shot but the guy has been passing real well on the inside and doing a bit of rebounding.

Update from #UC coach Mick Cronin: Nysier Brooks hyperextended his knee. No damage. Still sore, day-to-day.

RE: Brooks
1st rd pick whenever he decides come out. He has size and fundamentals to get drafted high without doing nothing in college. P4P, probably best NBA big man prospect we've had since Robert Whaley.

... You mean the guy who basically had no career and managed to dominate at an NAIA school? Dude was a total flop. Not that I think Brooks is draft material at the moment, but I think we've had multiple people who were more probable to do damage in the league than Robert Whaley.

Robert Whaley was a big time recruit, top rated big man in nation coming out high school. Maxiell, Lawrence, Biggie, Gates didnt have size or talent of Whaley level. I dont know what probable guys we've had to do more damage than him. Only Mad Max has made the league since Whaley.
