This week's hoop will compete with signing day for FB (Wednesday) for our attention, but I guess before one can get to Wednesday one need to get to and past Tuesday.

And next week will be similar having to get past Tuesday (@TOL) to get to Friday (home against Akron on national television).

Kent isn't as strong as in the past. Nor is the MAC East (MAC East is a -2 within conference despite a gaudy 8 - 0 record by Akron).

Hopefully we get to the 'magical' 6 - 3 mark at the mid season conference mark before going on the road to face a tough NIU team. A 6 - 3 record would be fine given that we have already played both Akron and Ohio on the road.

As folks have been saying it is Akron + 3 weak sisters + the 'middle eight' who will be jockeying for position come tourney time...

Seems about right. Kent has been disappointing this year, but we need to be on our A-game. Jimmy Hall can beat us by himself. That guy has given us fits for a few years now.

We are a 77% favorite.

i love those of you who have the patience to parse out tweets in the run-up to signing day. i'll wait for the press release and wait for you all to chime in on the quality of the recruiting class. in the meantime, i'm excited for this game tonight. i predict a big game from JTIV and one of Raven & Willie. at this point i take it for granted that Timmy will have some kind of crazy 10 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals game, all while playing great defense. I'd like to see Nobles get back to how he was playing in December. Madray doesn't need to be great, i just want to see confidence and aggressive play from him. i'd also like to see Steele dial it back on the fouls a little bit.

9-0 Kent. they just had a 5 point possession (3 pt shot + offball foul while the ball was in the air that resulted in an additional field goal). another slow start. either Lee or Mangum have to start each game. our offense is rough without at least one of them on the court.

What an awful start. Thompson and Steele want no part of defending Hall, or boxing him out. Embarrassing, how many looks they are getting near the basket.

yup. no boxing out and De La Rosa is quick, which will be a problem.

Settled down defensively a little bit. Only basket they've had since their initial burst was that and-1 dunk. Forcing TOs now. As long as Hall is getting the ball way out at the 3 point line, we should be ok. Can't give him closer looks.

Thompson technical. Shocker.

Bond is the lifeblood of this team. that was one hell of a pass to Thompson down low.

If Thompson was better at jumping off two feet from a standstill he would get a lot more putbacks. he either can't, or doesn't, jump well when he goes straight back up after a rebound.

is anyone at the game? it sounds louder than normal. is the crowd any good?

how did Hall finish that? he had three guys draped on him. that dude is good.

I'm not there, but looks/sounds like better student turnout. They had a Greek-related event tonight.
