RE: ACC Network Question
Screw the Big12 especially Texas for let them decay slowly and sit back and watch what could have been a big time conference, but Texas had to have things done their way and their way only. I remember the old Big8 conference ( Kansas, Mizzu, KSU, NU, Colorado, Iowa State, OU, OSU ) and the worst thing hey vet did was bring on the members of the old SouthWest Conference ( Texas, TT, Baylor, TAM ). IMOH Texas is a cancer that people do not see at first due to all their appeal etc. If poeple want the ACC to rot within then bring on the Texas school, but remember there us to be a dam good conference IMO that is no longer around called the Big8 for charter members are now residing in conferences they have no history with. Of all the team that moved only Nebraska has history with an old rival in Iowa who once use to be a charter member of the MVIAA which became the Big8. So I know some fans of the old ACC have mentioned from time to time how the conference has taken on to much, but I assure you the teams they have taken on will not form into a cancer like Texas will if invited even as a partial entry. So let them be for we don't need them, and like one poster stated if we need a conference to help out with the network then I would rather deal with the SEC for its the same footprint at least the majority of it.

Somebody should tell Miami because their web page doesn't list men's hockey.

Which brings up another question... could club sports be used to fill air time during off hours?

BTW, UNC is playing NCSU at PNC arena on 2/2. Seems like a lot of seats for a club sport.

RE: ACC Network Question
In ACHA (club) hockey there are multiple divisions. Here's the ACC schools' club hockey teams by division (schools may have teams in multiple divisions):

Division 1:
Pitt
Syracuse

Division 2:
Boston College
Duke
Louisville
North Carolina
NC State
Pitt
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Wake Forest

Division 3:
Clemson
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Miami
Notre Dame
Pitt-Greensburg
Pitt-Johnstown

There actually is (or was) an "ACC" tournament in Ultimate and several ACC schools are national powers in that sport (which at the collegiate club level is the highest amateur level). Some of these programs are recruiting and giving some scholarships, and there is a professional league. The season is largely after college basketball and overlaps with baseball and softball so that is one club level sport that I could actually see being broadcast. Although I'd say that is still fairly unlikely.

(01-28-2017 09:42 AM)Wolfman Wrote:  I know I didn't provide a lot of details. That's because I don't have a clear picture of how such an arrangement would work. I would oppose any plan that has the ACC/N developing media facilities for the B12 so cost should be minimal. Scheduling priority would favor the ACC.

What I see is a way for the ACC/N to get some access to UT, OU and the state of Texas without all the baggage. The ACC averages 7 football games per week. That's 28 hours of programming. Adding a couple of games from the B12 (yes during the week) would provide content.

The Texas market won't really help the ACC recruiting that much without having a Texas school of it's own. Those guys are locked into a Texahoma mindset from the cradle to the grave. One reason Charlie Strong wasn't that successful while He was busy trying to bring in Florida players was it likely turned off some Texas H.S. coaches on UT while He was coaching there. Texas always has a huge list of quality players to choose from and Win with. Not sure the ACC would have any interest in Big 12 markets unless Texas and Oklahoma were to become ACC members. But I could be wrong.

RE: ACC Network Question
No free rides.

Texas is the only thing that matters there, and the state of Texas isn't picking up the ACCN at an in market fee because of a couple games.
