Since an abysmal 1-8 start, ND is 21-15 in its last 36 games.

The Irish are 22-23 overall, 10-14 in the ACC.

Are you still looking to get rid of Mik?

Hell yes. Who is responsible for that 1-8 start?

Look, ND should be in the upper echelon of ACC baseball, like it is in men's and women's basketball, lacrosse, etc.....

So, bye, bye, Mik. I hope he is axed the day after the ACC Tournament ends.

Now that UNC swept Clemson it would be nice if the Cards do the same to Clemson and help secure UVa as being the 4 seed in the ACC tournament and perhaps open up another national seed spot for Virginia.

I like that plan.

FSU drops to a 3 seed in this week's projection after losing another series. NC State reappears (surely as the last team or two in the field) after sweeping the Hokies. The Pack is still only 25-20 (11-13).

Excellent pitching for the Cards. McKay goes 8 innings and Henzman earns his 14th save with a combined 1 hit performance along with 11 K's. The Irish didn't make it past 2nd base on the day.

Brad Bass pitched a pretty good game for ND.

It was 1-0 on a solo home run until about the seventh inning.

A great play by the Louisville right fielder and a base running gaffe by ND snuffed out a promising sixth inning that might have produced a couple of runs for ND when it was 1-0.

I was surprised that ND was that competitive with Louisville, especially with McKay on the mound.

Watch Louisville win the next two games by nine runs each, lol.

Bass pitched an excellent game. He allowed two runs but the "2nd run allowed" was a guy on 1st with two outs when he exited the game.

Louisville has struggled offensively all season on Friday night games in ACC play. Despite having McKay on the mound they're only 5-3 and that's largely due to only scoring 3.0 runs a game in ACC openers. In Sat/Sun ACC games, Louisville is 13-1 while averaging 6.85 runs a game. Notre Dame is more than capable of pulling an upset however.

RE: Open Thread - 2017 Baseball Season
Cards win the finale 9-4 to sweep in South Bend. Louisville's normally great defense was bad news bears like early today and our freshman Sunday starter lost his composure. That left the Irish up 4-1 with UofL's starter pulled in the 2nd inning. The bullpen came in though and pitched 7.2 scoreless innings. The Cards blew open a 5-4 game in the 9th inning and improve to 42-6 (20-4) on the season.

The Cards (20-4) travel to 2nd place Clemson (16-8) next weekend with the division on the line. Louisville's magic number in the Atlantic is 3.

• Louisville has won 33 straight regular season weekend series at home dating back to 2013.
• The Cardinals have a 39-0 record this season when leading after eight innings.
• A season after setting a school record for highest fielding percentage (.978), Louisville has maintained a similar pace in 2017 with 36 errors in 48 games for a .980 fielding percentage.
• The Cardinals have allowed two or fewer earned runs in 27 of 48 games this season after accomplishing the feat in 36 of 64 games last season. They allowed two or fewer earned runs in 36 of 65 games in 2015, 40 of 67 games in 2014 and 36 of 65 games in 2013.

Impressive stats but against the worst strength of schedule in the top 30 teams in the latest rpi. All the remaining 8 games will prove more of the Cards relative strength since all the 8 left are in the top 30 of the rpi. I personally hope Louisville sweeps Clemson to help UVa's seed in the ACC tourney and perhaps NCAA host opportunity.

The out of conference SOS was definitely sub-par this season for the Cards compared to most years. Finishing up with Vandy and IU will strengthen that a bit, but won't drastically change the OOC SOS of 26 games in total.

While the SOS may impact Louisville's NCAA placement by a few places, they should still be a solid National Seed if they finish in good shape. There are still games to be played, but hard to deny 20-4 in the ACC, 11-4 vs Top 50, and 17-5 vs Top 100 (not to mention 25-1 vs teams 100+).

The same 7 ACC teams remain in this week's projection, although NC State should be very nervous about their placement in the field. Louisville and Clemson each drop a place in the National Seed list this week. Clemson dropped a game to a poor Nevada team, and UofL drops despite a 4-0 week that included a road sweep and a win over Vandy.

North Carolina (#2 National Seed)
Louisville (#6 NS)

Wake Forest
