March Madness is heating up early this season. For the first time ever, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Selection Committee will offer teams and fans an in-season look at the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship bracket. NCAA Men’s Basketball Chair Mark Hollis will be in studio for the reveal of the nation’s top 16 seeds, identifying the top-four teams in each region as they stand on Feb. 11. CBS Sports and Turner Sports will present NCAA MARCH MADNESS BRACKET PREVIEW, airing Saturday, Feb. 11 at 12:30 PM, ET on CBS.

It is bad enough that the football selection committee undermines its own credibility by having their weekly reveal. This goes way beyond this for crass commercialism. Is ESPN so desperate for programming that they have to stoop to something as cheesy as this?

One man's "rigged" is another man's "entitlement".

This is CBS, not ESPN.

I misspoke. CBS are the cheesy ones.

That would be correct, they are trying to match ESPN cheesiness.

Sounds to me like they are trying to give people a reason to tune into college basketball in February. This may work.

It is a pretty low bar, since hoops ratings are miniscule. But maybe this will increase interest in the sport before March. Which would be a welcome change in my view. College hoops is vastly underrated on the national sports scene. Just my opinion.

If they really wanted to give us something to talk about, they would give us the last 8 in and the last 8 out instead of the top 16 seeds. The top teams are going to be in somewhere no matter what, and the AP poll gives us a pretty good idea who they will be.

This isn't as cheesy as Michael Buffer at the Kentucky/Kansas game.
