I'm actually pleased that they are not in the Pre-Selection List.

They need to stay unrewarded, with a chip on their shoulders, looking to prove the critics wrong. They lack a killer instinct. If they get a team down by 15-20 they tend to relax and let them climb back instead pressing their foot on the opponent's neck and try and beat them by 30.

Winning in March requires never taking your foot off of the gas.

I do hope it will light a fire under the Cats. But it shows the committee does not respect UC or the AAC. That likely means we have little room for error. Still think they can lose 1 game and get a top 4 seed, but two may not cut it, which is crock considering how many bad losses other teams have taken. Let's just run the freaking table. 29-2 and win the AAC tourney puts us at 32-2.

This was ESPiN. Not the Committee.

It was the committee.........that did the top 4 seeds, then Jerry Palm projected the rest, on CBS.

This was on cbs. Blaming espn is idiotic. They stupidly rely on the rpi and top.50.rpi wins specifically. That said
Plenty of legit reasons to have uc as a 5 seed

we are in higher in the rpi than any other metric right now.

Honestly, I can see UC with 3 more losses, @SMU, @ UCF or @UConn and a loss in the conf. tourney. Just don't trust UC's shooting away from home.

FWIW. There's no B1G teams listed either. This poll assumes the tourney started now and a lot can happen between now and early March. Mick and the players don't care about meaningless polls at this juncture. He has already been beating in their heads that they have to get better or they will lose in March. What they need to remain focused on is each game. one. at. a. time. To me, the outright conference championship should be the short run goal that provides plenty of motivation. Unless they get some help from other top teams fighting for seeding, I really don't see them higher than a #4 seed with a weaker AAC conference this year.

It's hard to be a "top 16" team if you haven't actually beaten any "top 16" teams. UC is suffering as a result of UConn and Memphis being down this year, but also wiffed with the losses to Rhode Island (losing a shot at Duke) and Butler.

Well given that they named Butler a top 16 and they just lost to an unranked providence squad, that list didn't last long anyway...

I'm not surprised. Typical UC disrespect. I hope Cronin uses this this as additional motivation and the guys play with a chip on their shoulder. Good to see 2 of the high and mighty seeds getting beat.

Its NOT typical UC disrespect. We haven't played anybody, and when we have, we lost. Were we to have beaten Butler (not to mention Rhode Island) we would have been one of the top 4 seeds. Instead, Butler is.

I still think smu is the best team uc had played. X is good too. Iowa state won at fogg allen. Saying we haven't played or beat anyone is inaccurate. That said.. Plenty of reasons for uc not to be stop 4 seed

I like this team; it's probably the best that Mick's had. But a 5 seed (top 20) is fair and realistic at this juncture, with, unfortunately, not much opportunity to move up due to a very weak AAC.

The loss to URI hurt. Swap that loss for even a loss to Duke and it's a completely different story.

I doubt it. They would still say we haven't beaten anybody. Rhode island is not a better win than @Iowa St., vs. Xavier or SMU. Or even @Houston perhaps since the coogs beat them at home.

Wow. Moaning that UC lost to URI and Butler? Why is it that some people aren't happy unless they're miserable.
