Despite the many changes to WMU football, Bronco fans can take comfort that Franklin returns to the backfield in 2017.

He has never lost to CMU...

This clip has been posted several times before, but it is too much fun not to share again.

WMU > CMU.

The Cannon Trophy is in its rightful place in Kalamazoo...for the 3rd consecutive year!

04-cheers

RE: 2017 will bring changes..but Franklin does return.
Guess it's time to finally lose my posting virginity here,

With the talent we have coming back on the offensive line, plus Franklin and Bogan this should help offset the departures of Terrell and Davis. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching WMU become a more balanced offense over the past few seasons versus having no running game and relying mostly on passing to try to score points. With the question mark at quarterback for next season we'll need to rely heavily on the run game but I think we're setup to do great things with it!

I love Bogan...but that video clip of Franklin...02-13-banana

Not a single player on Central Michigan's 2017 roster has beaten WMU.

Not a single player - or coach - at Central Michigan has been part of ANY of its previous MAC Championships (which are as relevant today as the Toronto Maple Leafs' Stanley Cup Championships).

My understanding is Lester is winning almost every "WMU or CMU" recruiting battle, despite his late start.

Despite the changes, and some guaranteed "hic-ups" as a result of those changes, there is much to look forward too in 2017, Bronco fans! 04-cheers

Franklin has great talent-potential - more than Bogan due to size - but his propensity to fumble makes him a liability.

Hopefully he can fix that and have a great senior season. Could make him some money if he does.

That's great, but winning recruiting battles with a mediocre CMU program isn't going to keep our program progressing upwards-indeed, we'll start sinking fast if that's our standard. We need to be winning recruiting battles with the lower Big 10 programs.

Given the timing of Fleck's departure, I'm pleased to slap-around CMU and do not expect to win many battles against lower Pig10 programs.

Savor victories over CMU and never take them for granted.

Yes, WMU has surpassed the Chips on, and off, the field. However, things can and do change fast. Back in 2000 we never would have predicted President Bailey's administrative bungling and Cubit's inexcusable 5-game CMU losing streak.

We have several weapons, and we still have the best roster in the MAC...just not by as much of a margin this year.

With the offensive line returning minus Moton, we should be able to run the ball extremely well against MAC foes like we did this past season. Relying on the run will be BIG earlier in the season as the new QB gets adjusted but with a good O-line, the QB should be able to adjust well.

How many times did he put it on the ground in the Cotton Bowl alone... that game could have easily gotten out of hand if we don't hop on all those loose balls....

Our defense and returning stable of RBs should give us a chance at East Lansing. A win versus Sparty would be great for recruiting and moving the program in the right direction. It will be interesting to see if Ernsberger gets a bigger role in the passing game or if one of the young WRs emerges as a big play threat.

Hopefully MSU is still in a relatively weakened state, but can't see a Dantonio team having two clunker seasons in a row.

Great running backs are nothing unless we have an effective passing game. If defenses stack the box we wont be able to run. We also lost two starters on the line, one of whom will be playing in the NFL. Great offensive schemes and play calling make great running backs.

Yeah... so much is riding on everything else. Our O line should be adequate in the very least, but the QB & WR set is going to be different. If that's not good, the running game won't be good. To have a good running game, ya need at least a mediocre passing threat. I just hope ours pans out!

RE: 2017 will bring changes..but Franklin does return.
I would argue normally that Davis made it easier on the running game and QB this last year because he took the top of the defense... but Corey seemed to run all of the routes... Making most of his catches over the middle... I think we might find our speedy deep threat this year... and that will help to open up the middle of the field. If Ernsberger continues to destroy his interior blocks... I can see some pretty good production out of our RB's this year...

Completely forgot about Bellamy... Will he get a medical red-shirt for last year? If he has the wheels he had before he went down... he could be a huge replacement for how we used Braverman in the past... If he can catch slant routes and swing passes we may not need to worry too much about our other wide outs...

I hope so. Moton and Day are going to be hard to replace, but we have talent in the program.

Initial thoughts on our next LT? Juriga? Jordan?

Okorafor was LT last season. Moton was at RT. There should be a lot of competition for the new tackle spot. Novoselsky, Jordan and maybe Kanz will compete for it.

I think Jordan and Kanz will likely compete for it. Novoselsky seems to be Chukes primary backup and I'm not sure they would want to mess with that. LG is going to be Caliendo. At least I think. Word is he is an animal. And that good kind.
