I occasionally check out the Bubas Cup standings on the Sun Belt board and really enjoy how it shows a school is doing across the board, instead of just the normal football and basketball that gets all the TV coverage. Several different conferences have similar "cups" for all their conference sports, but I don't believe any of the power conferences have them. I've been wondering what a similar cup would look like for the SEC so I threw together a spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing
Points are awarded based on number of participating conference teams participating by reverse standings order (Conference champion receives 14 points if all schools participate in that sport.) Conference tournament winner and runner up are awarded 1st and 2nd place, remaining standings are based on regular season records (conference play only, non-conference games do not determine standings). I chose this instead of how the Sun Belt Bubas Cup is setup, which only uses regular season play. I used standings as of this morning for sports currently going on.
All conference sports are included, however sports offered by schools that are not sponsored by the conference are not (beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, rifle, lacrosse, men's soccer, and wrestling are all offered by at least one school, but not by the SEC).
If this gets a lot of attention we can discuss different ways to determine standings (regular season vs post season) and other details to add or change. Thanks for any feedback!
