Can't say for certain, but my sense is that Ray Lee has had a bum rap since early in his career here. All this might just be a "gang-up-on" mentality because somehow at some point he was given the scarlet letter- justified or not.
I am also wondering if this designation has rattled his confidence, and resulted in his inconsistent play this season as you guys are noting. (Note, he is still the second leading scorer on the team, and single handling took on Pitt in the double overtimes. So he has still been productive).
I am not second guessing Murphy, I give him a lot of credit for what he has accomplished. But I think Lee would have been a better fit at a different program- more utilized, more productive, more notoriety, and happier. Anyway, I suggest we lay off the Ray Lee bashing on this forum.
Agree 1000℅

I am saying that ray lee is over 18 and responsible for his own actions that got him suspended not the first time this has happened. But honestly ray hasbeen wildly inconsistent in his career and many of you have been overrating him for years NBA player please

Really lets let the coaches who see him every day make those determinations shall we?

Agree EMU79, but no doubt about it, Lee's margin for error is very small compared to other players during the game. Typically one small mistake - and he's out. A player can not play confidently when you're always looking over your shoulder......

RE: Game Day: @Akron
Here's the perspective on EMU Basketball from Dambrot, The Best Coach in the MAC Conference:
1) Eastern's defense not that good, we (Akron) could get anything we wanted offensively.
2) We could have beaten Eastern by 20 if we would have had a fair shooting day from the free throw line.
3) We (Akron) are not concerned with James Thompson. We've played him three times and he's not hurt us.
4) We are more worried about Ray Lee. He only played 15 minutes.......... The opposing coaches know what a talent Lee is. I'm with Ramy, Murphy's system is not compatible with Lee's talent. If there's an off court issue, don't play Lee; however, if you're going to play him, then a kid who was voted the second best player in the conference needs more than 15 minutes.
5) Akron worried about Mangum too.
Should be an interesting rematch in Ypsilanti.

I'm not watching that video, but if he really did say that stuff, it should be obvious bulletin board material for us. Especially against a one-dimensional team that relies completely on their 6'11 290 wrecking ball and making threes. Wasn't impressed with Akron really at all, outside of Johnson. MAC is down all around this year.

Sam - agree MAC is down. Hopefully Murphy takes advantage of this downturn.

RE: Game Day: @Akron
BTW, NIU lost to Ohio yesterday.
See we are tied for second with Ohio (hold tie-breaker) and NIU.
