It's quite nice, roomy, no really bad seats, ample parking. Wonder if they'll do double-headers?

If it truly looks like this team is set up to have a very good year next year, It would be nice if they did it in a in a 17K seat arena in the heart of downtown and invigorating the entire city with a exciting season.

But I'm not against BB&T arena. It's definitely nicer than USBA. I probably won't go to any of the week night games. Traveling to NKY from Butler Cty is a haul, but I'm just one man.

I'm just glad it won't be at Cintas.

Including parking and getting into your seats, I bet its about the same time to The Shoe for you all told.

I was gonna say this but figured I'd get shouted down by the Nederlander trolls. Glad somebody else knows the score. With this announcement I may even be in to renew season tix, which was not gonna happen with any games at Cintas or USB.

Well the Holy Grail on the Banks isn't happy with this.

#UC basketball likely to play at #NKU next season when 5th/3rd renovated, sources say.
US Bank Arena would be contingency plan.

@TomGroeschen Tom...I hope you and @jwilliamscincy explore the REAL reasons behind this. Terrible for the Cincy business community.

The Holy Grail ‏@holygrailbanks 43m43 minutes ago
@LanceMcAlister @Hatchwoman6 simple USBA! Mick is 8-1 there. UC 22-1 since 2000. Has an incredible team back. Cincy biz community support.

@LanceMcAlister @Hatchwoman6 that's where he wants to play. State funded going to another state ? Cmon. This is silly

Haven't been to the Grail since they moved out of Clifton. They abandoned UC, not the other way around.

Maybe if US Bank and the local Cincinnati business community gave us the support that Louisville has, we could talk. Funny how attractive you become when you start winning.

I can dream...

If Holy Grail knows the real reason why not tell us. Guessing NKU made it real easy for UC.

I haven't been to US Bank in a couple years, but when I was in school from 06-11 the place was an absolute dump. I went to Concerts, Hockey and Wrestling events there and they were not great. The concourses are crowded. The place is dingy and feel like a soviet bloc. I will be much happier traveling for a game or two knowing I will get to see them play in a nice arena and not deal with US Bank.

The Holy Grail and all the others can shove it.

Seems to me that Holy Grail might have a beef with US Bank Arena for not making their venue attractive.

To blame UC for this is absurd. The blame has to fall on the owners of an arena who refuse to do anything to update it to make it attractive. We could host NCAA tournaments, conference tournaments, and more in an updated arena, but this group is too cheap to address the issues.

The failure of that ownership group was none more apparent than when there were discussions about UC moving there as part of a large renovation. The owners tried to screw both the city and UC, while keeping most of the revenue streams for themselves. Now, they are stuck with an aging facility, and it hurts the city.

It's a ridiculous comment on behalf of the Holy Grail. It's only one season.

So how many people now visit the Holy Grail before or after a game at the Shoe, my guess is none or very few, so the Grail will be losing nothing. If they were counting on traffic from games next year to bolster their coffers, they may be in some trouble. Blame the arena that is archaic and its owners not UC.

US Bank is so out of date. It always smells like our barn before morning poop scoop.

They have not invested money in ages. UC's role is to do what is best for UC not the downtown business council.

If some local companies had stepped up for us the way Louiswille companies such as Papa John, Yum Brands did we might be in a decent conference.

Obviously BB&T Arena is nicer than US Bank Arena, but it's just for one season. Expect student attendance to be way down if they choose BB&T over US Bank.

Don't buy it will make much of a distance student-wise. Students were going to have to hop in a car whether the game was at US Bank or BB&T. I would not be surprised if UC runs some student buses over to NKY.

The only people this might effect will be people traveling from Butler/Warren Co. and all parts further north). That being said there is an opportunity to draw more people from the east side and NKY.

I can understand why they are upset but their anger is misguided. Uc would prefer to play to us bank but the owners let their greed get the best of them in my opinion.

Back in the dark ages I was a commuter student. Many of them depending on their location might prefer the Northern Kentucky location. I wonder what percentage of our student game attendance live on campus?

I've just been boycotting them because their food is not good and typically cold by the time it hit my table and their drinks are incredibly overpriced. Glad we have an additional reason now.

If you go strictly by "on campus" it's under 20% (UC can't even house all its freshmen anymore, pushing some to random off-campus leases), but pushing to what's generally considered traditional undergraduate (residing within a mile of campus) it's closer to 70%.
