I will bet that Hampton ends up playing football someplace else a year from now. Some P5 school. Probably one of the two in his home state. Or Minnesota.

I wonder how many of the flipped kids will see the grass is not greener. Says he wants 1 QB a year, Signed 2 others in the last 2 days (Plus Mogan)although 1 looks a little small and could switch positions

This is such a curious move I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up at Goopher land. WMU might loose a few others.

Well that's a bummer. Pure guessing, but probably a mix of home sickness and uncertainty of coaching staff changes. Curious to see if he does end up back in college football and lands at Tulsa or somewhere (if Fleck hasn't stolen him, that is).

Is there any confirmation of this? Not saying its not true but all I see is an obscure facebook post and he's still listed on the roster (although probably nobody's updating that at this point).

Jared Culp is also still listed on the roster, but there was some mention of him no longer being on the team as well?

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he does. I don't buy the "home sick" stuff. Theoretically possible, but I would think anything close to that would be more like not getting along with the team so well or something (and call it "home sick"). Getting home sick playing for an undefeated team, playing football all thru high school -- and going to a Cotton Bowl? "Ehhh, I'm out"? Yeah, maybe to Minnesota to take a year off because you'd have to anyway if you wanted to go to another place. :)

Butch is definitely gone and this was in the works prior to Fleck leaving, which is why PJ was recruiting another kicker. Butch is heading back to Oklahoma (I think he's already there) to play for his dad Jimmy who is the head coach at the perennial soccer juggernaut that is the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

I don't know why he chose to make this change, but I wish him all the luck in the world.

Regardless, WMU was able to land Josh Grant from Flower Mound, TX who appears to be a very solid kicker.

Good insight. Yeah, it's hard to believe why he wouldn't have just gone straight there in the first place.

Maybe PJ recruited him bigtime to drag him in, despite his dad being a soccer coach @Oklahoma where he could play?

PJ: "Butch, I'm going to tell you things straight up. You have a lesbian name, but with that hair, you're definitely not one. Now listen... we're going to have a GREAT team this upcoming year. REALLY great. I'll start you first year. Why would you want to? We're going to the Cotton Bowl, baby. Do girls not like that? Of course they do. Our Senior QB and Senior WRs are going to lead us there. Be a part of that! Be a champion! Because after this upcoming year -- they're gone! And so am I! And SO can you!"

Very literary in tone, Todd. Tour de' force. Keep up the good work.

He was named Special Teams Player of the Game for the MACC (deservedly so), so he'll always have that, too.

Hate to see Butch go. He was great all season and particularly at Ford Field. He won that game for us. I wish the best for him in his future.

Bye, Hampton. Don't shank it -- and if you do, blame Oklahoma and your dad for Laces Out!

Peace!!
