That would be great. Just feels so shaky right now. Hopefully that's just my perception. Our special teams is a total question mark...was hoping to bank on them

That seems unlikely considering the lack of experience at QB and WR.

...and losing an all-conference caliber Kicker.

Schedule is exponentially harder this year. USC is not Northwestern. We play Toledo and NIU at their places, and we have no Terrell, and no Davis.

To be clear, I think we can win against Toledo and NIU, but with no Terrell and no Davis, there are a lot more question marks. MSU will be better than last year too.

Add in new coaching styles and the guys have a lot to overcome.

I predicted 10-2. I enjoyed being wrong.

I expect us to remain a Top-25 program and win back-to-back championships. Will be led by what should be an improved defense and a punishing ground game, with a competent, albeit less explosive, passing attack that will at least keep defenses honest.

WOW. That's ballsy. I'd bet $500 that won't be the case, in a heartbeat though (and wouldn't mind losing).

And yes, last year people were predicting 8, maybe 9 wins last year. I was one of them. I think the main reason was the WMU D. I thought WMU had the O to do it (which we obviously did), but our D? Didn't have faith. And I didn't think NIU was hit a downslope, nor Illinois being that bad, nor NW being defunct early on... although I didn't think EMU would be a decent team, either. With that said, I'm not "OMG, I had the D all wrong!" It wasn't any Shafer D... it seemed to bend but not break, make adjustments after a quarter or two, etc., which saved the day. I just didn't think it would be able to go that extra mile that it did, which was sweet. Better than I estimated.

So what to expect next year? I'm Stronger on my POV that it'll be 8W next year than I was last year. And less likely it'll be 9W next year than I was last year.
