Yeah, let's base our expectations on what the delusional Walmart Wolverine fan base thinks.

It's the expectation of the program and coaches. If it's 8 wins then Cubit would be your hero. If that's what you expect, fine. Raising your expectations is demanding more from program, coaches and administration. Anyone can run an 8 win program, that's no one's goal.

I think the goal and the expectation are two different things. The goal is to win every game, win the MAC Championship, etc. Every team has the same goal. Obviously it is more realistic for some than others, but that is always the goal.
I think the expectations have been raised. I don't think anyone in the fan base would be surprised if we won the MAC next year. I think if you go back 5-10 years we would have been pleasantly surprised to win the MAC. I just have a hard time saying MACC or bust. If at the end of the year we have 1 conference loss but that means we lose the tie-breaker to play for the championship doesn't mean we had an awful season. I will be disappointed but it would be hard to say we underachieved.

I would likely be emotionally disappointed (as I am with most things) -- but that depends on good our QB & WRs are to get our O going -- but logistically, I likely wouldn't be. We haven't established ourselves as MAC Dominant. On a peak year with a rising coach, we went from 7-5 and not going to the MACC since 2000 -- to going undefeated in the MAC and going to it (and barely winning it).
Now that our team leader, our HC, and star WR (and 2 other senior WRs) left -- expecting it to be the same as last year in the MAC, especially when expecting NIU and definitely Toledo to be improved And on the Road -- we should be MAC West Title Contenders -- but not a given by any means to win it, even if we play within the realm of capabilities. How far those capabilities are -- is yet to be determined (and not determined by $$ amount on a HC contract out of the gate).
