Excellent response Doss 04-bow in short, better to lose some money, than a lot of it.

Yep. It's money invested, not spent, to secure the future. If the buzz generated by the local high school push continues, UC will finally begin to leverage some of the most passionate high school fanbases anywhere who want to see their stars (who are family, friends or neighbors) on Saturday nights at Nippert. Truly a win/win.

Glad to see that things appear to be on the upswing for Cincinnati.

I would love to add Army in the East and AFA in the West as FB only. The issue is would Army Navy be willing to play on the last Saturday as opposed to the Saturday after Conference playoffs.

Great idea and great question (bolded). Both are respected brands in college football, complement Navy as football only, and create some interesting marketing opportunities for a conference named American.

If that could be done, then and only then, the AAC should consider two quality "basketball only" additions. I would set the bar pretty high for those too: a history of sustained success through different coaches, engaged fanbase, strong attendance and some tournament pedigree. Sadly, that would be a pretty small candidate pool. By that standard, Dayton could be attractive. For me, it's hard to get real excited about that. But compared with ECU and Tulane basketball...
