RE: Speculating on Lester's staff
FootballScoop is saying Lou Esposito has been offered DC position. I was happy with the Lester hire until today. I wasn't empressed with Esposito the first time he was are DC. Now I am starting to get worried.

Wonder if Pinkham got released or didn't want to work for Lester? Maybe they got wrong info.

Sh!t. Shafer would be my #1 choice. But since he is out -- I don't see why we'd be chasing anyone else for DC. Pinkham is A-Okay. I'm not a huge fan of bend-but-dont-break, but we could execute well in games... even keeping Wisconsin down under 400 yards.

But this Lou Esposito -- he needs to go on a diet! :)

He's been the HC at Davenport. He was our "Assistant Head Coach (Defense)" according to his resume, from 2010-2013 (really 2012). Went to Ferris as DC after Cubit left, and then in 2014 being HC at Davenport.

So basically he helped run our D in Cubit's last years + "Led recruiting activities for entire team," according to his resume:

Western Michigan: Sources tell FootballScoop that Davenport (D-II – MI) head coach Lou Esposito is leaving to become the co-defensive coordinator on Tim Lester’s staff at WMU.

OK. Co-DC. Maybe not that big of a deal.

Pinkham assistant HC/co DC? Maybe?

That is a relief. I was eating lunch today thinking about how happy I was that Pinkham, Duggan, and Williams were still on the D coaching staff. Esposito does bring recruiting experience. He is a good addition to the D coaching staff.

RE: Speculating on Lester's staff
Why hire two DCs? And Pinkham should be a no brained automatic hire. The players know and understand his defenses, and we performed well under him. This isn't rocket science, and if Lester can't connect the dots on things like this we are in for a long long 5 years.

Pinkham assistant HC/co DC? Maybe?

Well that might be a little more palatable It seems to imply a check and balance Pinkham will have some say in what happens on defense
