No, we haven't been on Bronco Stampede for a decade debating the in and outs of 1-8 win teams.

But how - after catching the Fleck lightning in a bottle, you can all just succumb to "Support our Coach."

Lester may be better than Fleck (I don't think he will be) - but the idea that alumni, students, supporters, boosters of this program just lay down at the feet of Kathy on a hire that literally no one on this board supports. Not one of his stats inspires confidence. The fact that everyone just lays down is so shocking to my system.

Expect more my friends, my fellow alumnus. Expect your University to be great. Don't be sheep.

This is the road to mediocrity. Lester will not win a MACC here - and forget the 10 win seasons. Flushed.

KB's phone should be ringing off the hook with dissatisfied alumni.

So continue to support mediocrity. Hopefully in 30 years we strike oil again, and then we can watch as we piss the opportunity into the lake, as we're doing here.

I bid you farewell. It was beautiful while it lasted. But this shall not last. I hope we make the Idaho Bowl.

You say 10 win seasons like its something we had a lot of. Fleck won more than 10 1 out of 4 years here.

You nailed the title though. You are a fair weather fan.

Expectations. There is no reason had we hired the right coach that we couldn't have 10-13 win seasons. Expectations.

Never said I wasn't - but you should expect your team to actually strive for success - not mediocrity. When they're doing the former, that's when I'm a fan.

Seriously. If he wants to be a fair weather fan, let him. I can't but that is just because I can't help myself. If I could have gotten away from watching all those mediocre years I would have. But I've been addicted to bronco football since I was a kid.

We need all the fans we can get. I don't care if they are fair weather, or if WMU is a second team. If they fill the stands or start wearing the Broncos shirts for the first time in 15 years, I am all for it. It's best for our school.

I hope Lance is back next fall if we are winning games again

You're an alumnus? Gulp!

Well, you're a slappy, so you'll support whatever they offer.

Lester wouldn't have been my first choice but give the guy a chance. Let's not sink the boat before it's even left the dock. Remember, we didn't know squat about Fleck when he rolled into Kazoo four years ago and then were ready to burn him down after the 1-11 season. How did that turn out? Lester isn't Fleck but who is? Let's wait and see what happens in the first year or two. Also remember, Lester is under the gun, big-time, with NSD three weeks away. That would be tough on anyone.

I hope Timmy proves me wrong - but I just don't see sustained success as a recruiter. That was PJ's main skill. So they may win 9 games next year on talent, we'll see how years 2-4 go. But they aren't going to be great - no way will they be 10+ wins on a consistent basis.

Expectations are different though. We can't keep comparing this to the Fleck hire. Completely different situations. He has a strong roster that should make at least a run at the MAC championship. If they don't, I can understand people that would be skeptical.

If Lester wasn't an alum, he wouldn't have been considered. Take away the connection and we hired Purdue's qb coach.

We we play hard against USC next fall and beat MSU, they will come. And so will you and I.

RE: Fair-weather Fan
PJ was Ranked #11 out of #11 in the MAC in Recruiting according to 247Sports.com

http://247sports.com/Season/2016-Footbal...erence=MAC

So I'd take that site as a grain of salt. :)

The talk about PJ not being known as a recruiter before he got our job -- I beg to differ. He was a recruiting coordinator at NIU and helped make them to be a G5 Power.

What about 2006, that I randomly brought up on 247sports?

Tim Lester for WMU #4 / 14. Suck it. :)

KB will be retiring in the next couple years. We're getting a new President.

A new Pres and AD may not care about his ties and loyalty, just the product. If this is a mistake of a hire (I'm not saying it is), changes could be made relatively quick.

I'm interested in the details of his contract.

RE: Fair-weather Fan
Problem with the individual recruiter rankings on those sites is that attaching a coach's name to a given recruit is typically handled by a team site's staff, and some are more diligent than others (usually the name schools). I would give a lot more credence to someone like jubba on this than those rankings.
