If Lester can pull together a solid staff we'll be alright.

Lightning doesn't strike twice

Didn't some forest ranger get struck like 7 times?

Well he can get to work, We have a strong base of a class coming in this weekend. If he can keep all of them and add a few more 2-3 star guys in the next week we will be fine. Good luck Tim

What 350 a year??? I thought she said WMU wanted to keep the momentum going?... iObviously the philosophy has changed with Dunn leaving and the boosters have abandoned ship . Where does that salary put us in the MAC I'm guessing dead last.

I think Pez is guessing the 350K. No one knows salaries yet, unless I've missed something.

He'll work his ass off for the Brown and Gold and shares the same vision for the program that all of us have. Congrats head ball coach Lester!

I think that's Fire Marshall Bill, from In Living Color. :)

Well, if we only had $350k to spend, yeah then I guess he was truly destined to be our HC....

Quote:Tim was slinging the rock in my teen years when I really got into WMU football. Hopefully he hires good X's and O's guys as Coordinators, and keeps RTB...Run The Ball.

He was slinging rock when I was slinging my charm all over teens (in college). Hopefully he'll overachieve expectations, unlike my shenanigans. Now all we need is Shafer, Moreland, and hey, maybe Gary Darnell to be some position coach, for 'ol time sake! :)

RE: It's Lester!
I think this writing was on the wall, quite frankly. Lester was a favorite on KB's list four years ago, Dunn said to open it up to others. With Dunn retiring and presumably letting KB call the final shot, it was back to her favorite.

Underwhelmed. As I mentioned earlier, feels like a Bonamego type of hire. KB is really going to have to sell the fan base what his "it" factor is, aside from just being a former player and more loyal than the next guy.

Personally, I won't plan on wallowing in it for months. He still deserves all the support and encouragement, and obviously a chance to prove his mettle. But, wow, I just don't get it.

Funny thing is Fleck worked hard to change the culture here to be a winning culture. When he leaves we go right back to the same crap culture.

EVEN THOUGH he's not Peyton Manning, I'm hoping next class he'll land an elite QB.

I don't think it'll (necessarily) be "crap culture". I think Lester could make a decent/normal/expected/general-positive culture that you'll find in many schools that are at least treading water or better. However, yeah, it sort of takes the wind out of everything.

However, to be fair, say we got Ferris' HC. I don't think the Culture would be any better. Can't really think of anyone who would provide a better Culture, except maybe Tryone Wheatley being a little young and vibrant and semi-famous from playing @UM + NFL. Aside from him, by default, I think Lester would be one who'd have the (slightly) best chance of bringing in a Better culture, since his roots are WMU + he's obviously followed us and realizes the cultural "Wow" factor we've had before he steps in. So I think there's a good chance he'll be A-OKAY on that front.

The real thing is -- the culture -- especially a Zany one like PJ brought -- can only be so good if you're winning.
