KB's phone should be ringing off the hook with dissatisfied alumni.

Everyone has the free will to do what they want.

Instead of "you guys... you guys..." No one is stopping you from creating a protest sign and marching down West Michigan Avenue. No one is stopping you from calling KB and giving her a piece of your mind.

And everyone of the people saying they do not approve should explain why they did not help to raise the salary of the coach to PJ fleck levels. The reason coaches were "calling" was they thought they would be paid big money. Alumni look to have taken the money off the table so we get a good coach with a good past, not a big name. One of the other posts commented on what he was being paid and it is less then a lot of power 5 position coaches.

I support WMU, not Lester...or any coach for that matter. However, writing the check is easier when you are excited about the programs. I hope the excitement remains.

Agreed. Full disclosure, I am not a Gary fund contributor but I do donate funds yearly to the university and have pledged a sizeable amount in future years. I do this because I appreciate what this great university offers to alumni, current and future students. Good times or bad, this is my university, my wife, my kids, and I hope my future grandchildren. Plant seeds and trees will grow

Dunno. I'm not going to donate to the Gary Darnell Fund just because we hired one of his star QBs as a HC. But it would be interesting if they hired Gary as some assistant coach... :)

I will continue to donate contributions to the Gary Fund. However, I designate that money for other areas of the University. For all of the success Fleck brought to the program, I disagreed with his personal choices and consequently donated the money to other areas.

RE: It's Lester!
Somewhat surprised and you regular posters know my doubts about Tim Lester. But, he's Kathy's choice and I'll support the Broncos come hell or high water.

With that being said, Tim could do a world of good for himself by keeping Ed Pinkham on as DC. Lester's got a record as an advocate for strong offense, he needs to shore up his defensive credentials. It's up to him, but he has to know many supporters are questioning his record at this point.

He could do a world of good by re-locking up some of the commitments from guys that are there this weekend who opened their recruitment back up after PJ left.

I think this is a big first test.

completely agree. and I will support him but i'm honestly pissed and disappointed at the real or preserved gigantic step backwards this hire appears to be. So much for momentum. I can't believe we wasted this golden opportunity. We finally had a 'new' culture, new expectations and we fall back to old times when winning occurred along with a lot of winnable losses. I liked the mountain top and was hoping we stayed there. the next 24 hours we get to spew our disgust and then we need to brush ourselves off and support our team and PRAY Kathy didn't efff this up.

RE: It's Lester!
Good news is the players seem to be real excited after talking with him. Lots are tweeting about it. Whatever he said must have been good and he obviously interviews well. Here is his shot to keep this momentum going in the right direction.

He likes to pass....We have a running QB, lots of RBs, and no proven WRs...

If Lester can pull together a solid staff we'll be alright.

Lightning doesn't strike twice

Didn't some forest ranger get struck like 7 times?

Correct!

We have lots of talented WRers in the program with little experience. And more coming in. We have a year to get them ready. Wars have been won in a year, can we do less!?

"Brush ourselves off?"

Read what you just wrote. You've already practically buried the guy.

Once again, can we let the guy coach a game or two first???

If he was wearing a WMU sweatshirt each time, I don't know if I would be happy that it'd mean lightning Can strike many times for us -- or that lightning isn't a WMU fan!
