RE: Neutral Site Football Championship Proposal
With most of our bowl games being two weeks later I don't think it would be a good idea to add more travel for both teams. Plus trying to coordinate the location of the game depending one the match-up could be a nightmare logistically. I'm not sure the host cities would like to be on a waiting list for a game that likely wouldn't bring a ton of cash to town.

Agree . . Neutral Site Stadiums can be big and empty and probably will be in most cases.

The only way I would like to see the game be played at a neutral site is if that neutral site is willing to pay the conference a boat load of money to host the game. I do not see this happening.

Stick with 2 locations. Closest in proximity to the team with the better record. Mercedes Benz in Atlanta or Superdome in New Orleans.

Yea right on the Mercedes Benz in Atlanta with the SEC game on Championship Saturday. That would go over real well.

So hold it in a different day.....

My point is, let the eastern schools vote between Atlanta or Charlotte, majority rules. Troy, Southern, and State would probably vote Atlanta whereas App and Coastal would likely vote Charlotte.

Let the western schools vote between New Orleans and...idk, Dallas.

Or rotate between the 2 proposed locations for each division every 5 years.

I'm all for highest rated team hosting but if we didn't do that we could always rotate host sites each year. East hosts year 1, West hosts year 2.

When the east teams host it could be held at Georgia State's new stadium which would be the most central eastern location. When the west teams host it could be held at ULM which is kinda in the center of the western schools footprint. - To be clear I'm not for this idea I prefer top rated school to host but this would be an alternative to a true neutral site.

RE: Neutral Site Football Championship Proposal
Why not go with a true neutral site game. Let's see, weather can be an issue in December, so indoor stadium would be nice.

I wonder if Idaho would host at the Kibbie Dome. They would not be playing in the game, it is indoors, and many of the SB teams still have experience playing there. And, the palouse is a wonderful place to visit (though I prefer July when the wheat fields are a shimmering gold.

Seriously. A neutral site works best if:

It is determined in advance.
Has good facilities (the venue and supporting accommodations). For December, indoors is a plus.
Is reasonably proximate to each of the participants.
Has good access - air - interstate access, etc.
Is not a de facto home site for one of the participants.
Is cost effective from the conference point of view.
etc.

If it's a neutral site Benson would only approve New Orleans. Like the BB tournament no matter the attendance. That example should kill any idea of a neutral site. Besides y'all will like Jonesboro in December.

I'd be more worried about App in December I used to live in the Ozarks and you don't know cold until you play on a field covered in ice at altitude with a 30mph wind blowing. All while goat loving shirtless hillbillys fresh from the morning romp in the hay cheer on their team...nightmare I tell you!

It's 37 degrees and overcast over here today and I hate it so I get what you are saying.

75 and sunny in Statesboro but that will probably change. South GA weather usually goes from winter to spring to winter all in the course of a week.

For the record. Jonesboro is not in the Ozarks. The foothills for the Ozark Mountains start about 60 miles west of here. They cover most of Northwest Arkansas.

Jonesboro is located on Crowley's Ridge, which is a bunch of rolling hills just past the Mississippi Delta. Ain't no mountains anywhere near here.

Just put it in Jonesboro and Boone since we know that's where it's going to be played most years anyway...

I lived for a time just north of West Plains MO so I know the area somewhat I just used the Ozark reference so people would get an idea of where I was talking about.

You Carolina folk certainly think alike. While we're discussing vacation destination Savannah just down the road from the Boro would like a word. 14 million visitors from around the world find it worth traveling to every year. Savannah Hilton Head International is 30 minutes from the stadium.

This, if it is not at a home stadium it will be a ghost town and joke on TV.
