Unfortunately I'm afraid you're right. Floyd isn't going anywhere and we might have a couple of single win season before the plug is pulled. The next coach might take a few years to rebuild the shipif we are lucky to hire someone good. As for football I don't know if we will ever be good.

At least you're not trying to do that while under NCAA sanctions.

That's what is frustrating about our situation with Floyd. Southern Miss has legitimate reasons why to be bad and yet you still manage to beat us and have a better record. Floyd in his seventh season blames everyone under the sun for his failures when he has all the tools available to be successful at UTEP.

Floyd's overall record at UTEP isn't awful, but the fact that he's never gotten UTEP to the NCAA tournament, never won a post-season tournament game, and never even won CUSA in the regular season or tournament, is a damned embarrassment for a program with the history that UTEP has. A 3-13 midseason record should pretty clearly seal the deal for him from any administration with half a bit of sense.

People on New Orleans radio were talking about Tim Floyd coaching LSU today.

Because Tim "Pink" Floyd came from New Orleans right before he took the Iowa St gig? This ain't the same Pink Floyd. This is Pink Floyd after Syd Barrett and Roger Waters left.
Cheers!

That would be sweet. LSU please take him off our hands.

So you are a Floyd supporter even though he has driven countless players away and out of El Paso. Feels entitled to the job with not even a sniff at the CUSA tourney (Tom Herrion took Marshall to the 2012 CUSA final and was fired 2 years later) and takes no accountability for anything going wrong this year.

This reminds me of the 2005 Marshall team that went 6-22. And the AD Bob Marcum at the time looking like Baghdad Bob. It took another 2 years of BAD basketball for Ron Jirsa be let go, ending his tenure with a WL record of 41-76.

If I'm reading it correctly he's being sarcastic and funny. As in saying in a few years making the tournament will be the expectation. Not the NCAA tournament but the CUSA end of season tournament. We had a funny thread on our board of how the win over FIU put us back in the bubble for the CUSA tournament.

Dear Miner fans,

As you know this has been a difficult year for UTEP basketball, and no one is more frustrated than coach Keitha Adams, coach Tim Floyd and our players.

In the previous three seasons (2013-16) coach Adams produced two 29-win campaigns, but the loss of seven seniors has made this a rebuilding year. In the previous three seasons coach Floyd’s Miners registered 23, 22 and 19 victories, but this year they lost three of their most talented and productive players.

Both coaches have averaged 20 wins a season since they took the helm of the program. Twenty wins used to be a good barometer for getting a team into the NCAA Tournament, but now the only way to guarantee a bid is to win the conference tournament. This is true for all the “Group of Five” conferences – C-USA, AAC, MAC, Mountain West and the Sun Belt. Only one team from the “Group of Five” received an at-large bid last year, and that came from the AAC.

We are fortunate that we have a basketball-savvy fan base that cares and expects to be playing for championships. I want to thank all of you who continue to support our coaches and team during this difficult period. We have led the conference in attendance every year, which gives us a chance to win at home and also attract top recruits. Which, I am pleased to say, has gone well.

Coach Floyd has signed seven new players for next year. One, Evan Gilyard from Chicago, is listed by Rivals.com as one of the biggest steals of the early signing period. He scored 32 points on 13 shots in a recent game in Memphis. Other recruits include Kobe Magee (outstanding guard from San Antonio, ranked #10 recruit in Texas), burly 6’9” forward Tirus Smith, smooth 6’7” junior college forward Roderick Williams, and two players currently enrolled at UTEP in 6’7” guard Isiah Osborne and 6’8” forward Trey Wade. Coach Adams has seven freshmen that are supremely talented but lacking college experience. They are getting better each day.

I can assure you that both Coach Adams and Coach Floyd are working harder than ever to get UTEP back on the winning road. We have great young men and women on our teams that are giving their best each day in practice to improve. I am asking our fans to continue to support these student-athletes in the same passionate manner that visiting teams have come to expect– making the Don Haskins Center one of the toughest places to play in college basketball! Strong fan support and a loud Haskins Center is what we need to help get back on track.

We will continue to do all we can to enhance the game-day experience. I hope to see you at the Haskins Center for all the games, but keep an eye out especially for the men’s games versus UTSA on Jan. 21 (halftime performance by Air Elite Dunk team) and UAB on Feb. 2 (Jeep Jackson Tribute Night).

Thanks again for your support and Go Miners!

Bob Stull

Yes we've also discussed this on our board. It would have been four if SMU didn't have ineligibility issues. Further goes to show how incompetent and disassociated with reality he is.

Yeah, that really does seem to be true. But it wasn't so much "after Roger Waters left" as it was "after Michael Jordan poisoned the waters for him."

I followed those UNO teams pretty closely. Even made it to a few games while Tim was there.
