Don't confuse a cold shooting night with good defense. This was about as bad a game as we could play. Sloppy, unforced turnovers all game and awful shooting night. It happens. Be a different story in huntington ot a neutral court.
It was good defense man. We weren't making much, but that started because just like last season we struggled to get good looks against the 1-3-1.. They took us deep into the shot clock several times as we looked confused as how to attack.
Now, true, we did miss our share of open looks, but that extended 1-3-1 gave us fits, forced us into several bad shots which took us out of our rhythm and rattled our confidence which then impacted our open looks.
Hats off to Davis and Middle Tennessee, they are the only team who has figured us out. Now to see if Danny can figure out that 1-3-1. You don't see that defense in the NBA. I said before the game that this one would be decided on if we had learned how to attack their zone. Oh well. This is a tough road swing and a split would still keep us in really good position going forward. On to UAB.
Not when you miss open shots. Defense gets credit for wide open missed shots. We couldn't throw it in the ocean from any part of the floor. Just wait, its not long til that vaunted 1-3-1 is in Huntington, where fans will actually be there to see it in person. We will see how it goes but id bet we aren't looking at less than 80 pts.
Like the 4,500 you had against ODU last Thursday ?
during a freak snowstorm. We had 3 inches of snow in about an hour, an hour before tipoff. That generally affects attendance. Followed up by 6600 for Charlotte 2 days later. You guys busted out a win over a 2 seed in the tourney and can't get 3500 to come see them.

Let me ask you something. Do you think Arizona would have a sell out arena to see you guys ... or would they have a sell out arena versus their arch rival ASU? Come on. We don't really give a crap against Marshall as a fan base generally (which is dumb, but it is what it is) but value games against teams like Vandy and WKU a lot more. See what our crowd is tomorrow. It might even be larger than what can fit in your arena.

Charlotte doesn't have a large rivalry with Marshall. That's not a shot at either team. Marshall fans showed up for that game and we have consistently had over 5000 fans for games this season.
I don't think it should have to do with whether your fans care about Marshall. I would think a true canvases would be out to see their team no matter the opponent, especially if that opponent was 1st in the league.
My point is you do not see Kansas, Duke, UNC, or teams like that having trouble getting fans to show up to any single game, nomatter the opponent.

The problem is your fans don't turn out to see YOU guys play. Arizona sells out to everyone because their fans come to see them play. We just happen to have more fans that want to see us live. Don't be a hater.

Open this thread up and what do I find? The typical refrain after a Marshall loss of any kind. Attendance talk.

Looked great on the T̶V̶ ̶C̶o̶v̶e̶r̶a̶g̶e̶ internet stream.
BTW, there was plenty of basketball talk in this thread.
