Question Randy Edsall back to UConn
That is rare. I can think of General Neyland, Bill Snyder, John Vaught, Bobby Petrino, and Johnny Majors. Who else?

RE: Randy Edsall back to UConn
Remember a couple of years back when the Tigers were playing at UConn (bball) and we weren't getting any calls? Tight game with UConn shooting free throws all night?

Edsall had already left UConn, but his brother, Duke Edsall, was a basketball ref who called that game that night.

Not saying he was in the tank for the home team, but it probably comes across better if he didn't ref games for a school that thinks his brother hung the moon.

Even rarer that he's going to be their baseball coach.

Well, they are fans. We're going to complain about refs all the time. Just because sometimes it's all in our perception, doesn't mean there aren't times that the refs are a mess. The Edsall thing was a joke. Bad look for the NCAA - conspiracy or not. And Stuart is another joke. He is a former UTK athlete, and has an axe to grind with Cal. I read an interview with him once in which he bragged about his and Cal's history. Burr - I've always just thought he was an idiot, but no conspiracy.

You really think a fan board is out of line complaining about refs?

When it's every loss and it's the same posters, yes. Back in the height of the Pastner meltdown, that's basically what it was.

I get that refs miss calls and/or make bad calls.

But to infer that they are against Memphis and partially or wholly responsible for every loss is a bit much as well.

Go into every game thread and I bet within 2 pages you find a post about a ref.

Heck, we had one poster (currently banned) who complained about the refs after a win. That same poster was irate that the refs didn't "help" Memphis at all, which is a strange perspective to have.

RE: Randy Edsall back to UConn
Even more absurd to have to perform "background" checks to determine if a person who graduated from UTK 30 years earlier would somehow decide to have a bias against Memphis in a game vs. Louisville.

If we need to start vetting every refs background, spouse's and sibling's place of education, and google search history to uncover any potential bias we're in trouble.

Thin skins. If you think Memphis fans are unique in complaining about refs and it really bothers you, you may want to find a new hobby.

Nah. I don't think it's many that need the ref crutch just a few turds.
