Judging from some of the posts in this thread an outsider might get the opinion that our program is imploding.

We prevailed in OT against a good basketball team...I, for one, am pretty happy about it.

Good is a stretch. They aren't bad. They may be good at times. But they're outside the top 50 and they didn't play particularly well last night. A better team would have taken advantage of our poor shooting. If we were a better team we'd have beat the Houston team that was on the floor last night by 15.

A win is win though. We need all the top 100 and top 50 wins we can get.

They are top 50 kenpom. And they are 20 points higher than us in rpi. On their court. It was a good win.

Our RPI improved around 20 places after the win...So yeah according to RPI it was a good win.

He wanted to play tonight and played well but pissed Tubby off at end of game. Suspect he will have extra sprints tomorrow.

what did he do ?

On a couple of the last few possessions in OT, Martin (I think) was trying to dribble out clock up top and Tubby wanted everyone else to clear out to the baseline. KJ kept trying to come up and set a screen with plenty of clock left, which would have let his man trap Martin. Tubby kept waving him back to the baseline. On the second possession KJ wouldn't go back to the baseline when Tubby waved him back. Tubby got piiiiiiiiiisssed and called that timeout halfway through the possession. KJ was pretty visibly upset with Tubby as well. Guys were standing between Tubby and KJ during the timeout and I couldn't really tell if Tubby was giving KJ the staredown or reading him the riot act. But he wasn't happy either way.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wouldn't make too much of it. But it happened.

But--but I thought Josh was the only coach that lost control of his team. I thought Josh was the only coach that the team didn't respect. I thought Josh was the only coach that players showed disrespect. I thought Josh was the only coach where a player had to be separated from coach by other guys.......

Games don't mean much except for conference tourney seeding which there have been many times when it's all said and done, I would have preferred the worst seed. With our depth, a first round bye is worth fight for but if we lose another like this, may be out of our range.

Isn't that exactly one of the issues many had a problem with Pastner? Coaches make decisions during a game based on many factors. They don't have the luxury of a do over if it doesn't go as planned. Many are critical of coaches and players on a play by play basis as opposed to what the final outcome might be even when we win the game. Player sucks, coach sucks, player sucks, stupid shot, stupid foul, we win. Great game but....

I seem to remember Fuente made the decision to start Lynch over Karam and the arm chair coaches were very critical. But as it turns out it was in the end the good decision. It could have backfired, but it didn't.
And maybe our coach keeping KJ involved in the games rather than sitting his ass down may in turn be the best decision. Time will tell.

16 points, 8 rebounds. Clutch plays the last 1:16 of the game - 4-for-4 at the free throw line, defensive rebound, and a steal against UCF causing Taco Bell to run for the border.

Hoop dreams told y'all so. I told y'all so back before he popped back to his real self.

KJ is a very good player who will get more good. Most of y'all must not have watched any Team Penny games. KJ was fearless in those games.

He just got himself all balled up for awhile. It happens. And with the good players it unhappens. lol

Yeah but he still has those couple of plays a game that make you go WTF...He made one of them today.

Again I don't know if he has an awkward game ala CDR where his shots seem like bad shots but they go in.

I've noticed that the fearless one...the kind that move first and ask questions later...do have those WTF plays. Seems to go with that instinctive personality.

Many moves of his today went unsung--ones that produced a domino effect for the good. Problem is, the WTF ones really. stand. out. lol

OK how's that for spin! 04-rock

I like the way the first play after Dedric went out, KJ took it right in for that open free throw line shot to get us going. When the going gets tough, these guys get going. That's a team.

19 rebounds in his double double performance is awesome.
But his 5 for 23 FG sticks out like a sore thumb.

Yep.

Still, as I've said countless times already...he's not going to be polished OR complete this year...anyone expecting greatness on a game to game basis from a guy playing his first full season of DI...well, you're probably going to be disappointed the rest of the year.

FYI, he rebounded 7 if those misses so he was still making good things happen by playing through the bad.

Plus he's a 6-7 SF being asked to battle inside.

I've got nothing bad to say about the kid.
