19 rebounds in his double double performance is awesome.
But his 5 for 23 FG sticks out like a sore thumb.

Yep.

Still, as I've said countless times already...he's not going to be polished OR complete this year...anyone expecting greatness on a game to game basis from a guy playing his first full season of DI...well, you're probably going to be disappointed the rest of the year.

FYI, he rebounded 7 if those misses so he was still making good things happen by playing through the bad.

Plus he's a 6-7 SF being asked to battle inside.

I've got nothing bad to say about the kid.

He had a nice game rebounding...Offensively he was horrible and hurt the other players on the team.

He had a 7' stiff standing in the paint daring him to shoot from the 3 point line and KJ wouldn't shoot it. So KJ needed help on defense and his man was helping on everyone else while we were on offense and KJ failed to take advantage.

Either we cannot play Dedric, KJ and Rivers together or someone out of KJ, Dedric or Rivers has to start hitting outside shots

Good point! We shouldn't be playing all three of our post players at the same time, as we must get our guards acclimated and performing on a consistent basis.....I think there is sort of a complex here with Tubby. From my perspective Jimario and KJ have similar skill sets although KJ may be a little more dynamic as far as range of abilities...I feel that we need Craig Randall to get confident in the worse way and he should start or get substituted earlier to give someone a breather....This guard dominant lineups actually seem MORE productive to me as well.....Wonder why TUBBY sticks to his guns on this issue....As I really liked seeing Craig operate defensively at the point of attack last night...he has potential to defend multiple positions

We don't have three post players.

Dedric and Chad are the only two that have a true post move and Dedric hates to post up.

we finally agree on something. Hell is getting chilly.

The term "post" is referring to the role that they're being utilized more-so than the abilities of the players....KJ;Dedric and Jimario aren't technically post players....Understood. Neither are they perimeter players, nor are they ball-handlers.They are technically "hybrid" players or stretch-forwards, none-the-less they are all forwards....They can bring the ball up occasionally,yes....but you wouldn't want these players routinely handling the ball on the perimeter nor will they be regulated to setting up the offense.

So, my point is to bring in a better ball handling player; a quicker player and a player that can gain more confidence shooting from the perimeter as well as create their own shot if the shot-clock winds down therefore opening more lanes for penetration off of the dribble... KJ is attempting this role, as in the near future I really believe his is a superstar in the making. However, at this stage in his development he can't flourish as his youthfulness allows him to get down on himself....He is VERY hard on himself, stunting his ability to really blossom, as you learn from your mistakes...

People have mentioned that he had a TERRIBLE offensive performance! I don't think so....When you look at the ineptness of our roster: size; our post players were battling taller players all night; our guards are inept shooting from outside; guards also reluctant to penetrate and force the defense to collapse;Markel doesn't take over the game with his abilities; and our reserves lack confidence. KJ feels compelled to will this team to win! He is a fierce competitor who HATES to lose. Gr8 thing is that it's beginning to rub off on Jeremiah as He and KJ are the emerging leaders of this TIGER squad and it's VERY exciting...Jimario is starting to buy in as well

Can you imagine if Kevin Stallings had been smart enough to hire Keelon when that stuff was first being floated?

This program would have been an absolute dumpster fire, Josh would have been canned after going like 12-20 last year and then we would have to have hired some dude on the cheap to rebuild.

RE: KJ...
Probably would have saved Stallings job, too. Another coach who under-achieved with good talent. I think Stallings did try to hire him though, right? We were just given first right of refusal.

KJ is playing well. As we said, he's a very talented FRESHMAN. He will probably have another slump before the year's over. When he was in the midst of that 3 game slump earlier, Tubby said they would take time in workouts to get his confidence back. Looks like what they did worked. He is going to be a very good player for us for the next couple of years. I could see him as an AAC POY candidate in about 3 years.
