THANK GOD! Now we will have a shot at winning more than 1-2 games each OOC schedule.

I know most ECU fans will hate it because we've scheduled to compensate for a ****** conference/no conference for so long, but the AAC gives us enough of a boost where we can now weaken the OOC schedule and try to actually make some national noise by being a true AB contender.

So we can go 1-3 year in and year out and not have any shot at the Access Bowl after the first month of the season?

As of right now, it would appear that ECU fans should be hoping that the game doesn't take place of another game in the next year or two. Though it would be best for App to have another 10 win season and for ECU to get out of the dumps prior to the game happening. Would like for a night game in Charlotte but my guess would be it would be played on ESPNU at noon.

Bring Skip Holtz back and start beating West Virginia again. The Virginia Tech series isn't going to go well until 2018 when they are breaking in a new QB.

2 in Gville, 1 in Boone, 1 in Charlotte? I like it. My wife is an App grad.

I don't mind playing App once in a while but we certainly don't need to make it a habit. And definitely not playing in Boone.

We need to be scheduling ACC teams-- not UNCC, App, and ODU. Geez

Lame.

I attended ECU, graduated from ECU and pay tuition to ECU through the summer. This is all kind of great for me.

Agree with you. We need two winnable games (FCS, low level FbS) and two ACC (UNC, nc st, Duke, wake, VT).

We need wins and not killing ourselves prior to the conference schedule. This conference is good. It's not like playing in a watered down CUSA.

We need a bowl game with 6 wins a year minimum. We can't get that playing 3 or 4 tough OOC games.

App St wouldn't be winning 10 games in the AAC and playing the OOC schedule ECU plays. I give you credit app has been a good team lately. But slow your roll.

The Sun Belt is the minor leagues.

I don't like this deal at all, because AS gets all the ticket sales from the game at the Carolina Panthers' stadium and it doesn't count against them as a home game.

Terrible deal all around for ECU and the AAC.

Considering that since moving to FBS, App has been the better team it is especially important that ECU maintain a perception of being the better football school. If App takes this series and begins to assert themselves in state it really could erode some of ECU's clout in recruiting the state.

App and ECU are far more similar than ECU is to State and UNC.

(ECU education but grew up near App, I feel especially qualified to speak on the qualitative differences or similarities between the two schools)

Totally disagree with this. ECU has been playing division 1 football for 40 years. App has been playing for what, 2 or 3?

ECU has played and defeated all the ACC schools in this state many times. Most of them on the road. How many times has App beaten NC State or UNC? ECU has beaten WVU, VT, Syracuse, Miami Fla, USC, and many other big time programs over the years. Has App done that?

I'll give it to App, they have come a long way and I respect their passion. But ECU has a lot more in common with NC State and UNC than App. The only similarity is the passion of their fans.

App has been playing Division 1 football for the same amount of time as ECU. Despite what many see as Division 2, FCS is technically Division 1.

At any rate, if you travel to the campus of both schools and attend games of interest for both fan bases you will notice a more similar feeling between them than games played at UNC and NCSU, which to me feel more along the lines of wine and cheese parties.

I wasn't comparing wins against big name brands, only the general feeling you get on campus as well as the facilities.

While I doubt that ECU would win 10 games I don't doubt that they would be around 7 or 8 wins. Arkansas State dismantled at 6 win team from the conference and App shared the championship with them. The disparity between the top teams may be larger, and even then there is no guarantee that Temple or Navy were that much better down the stretch.

ECU is currently in a funk which I find disheartening and I believe it will be better for both programs and this game if ECU lifts itself up. App has had one or two losing seasons in the past 30 years and I don't expect that number to change prior to this game being played.

WVU's defense has been on fire the past few seasons and if ECU competes the way they did in Blacksburg this past year it could spell trouble. I would hope Scottie can run the team with the way he is able to motivate but this season wasn't incredibly encouraging, especially considering ECU fired Ruffin McNeil who was able to win the P5 games.

It would be nice for to see Skip back as it was really disappointing to see him leave for USF who ironically is now a conference mate. It seems that he figured out how to run an offense while at Louisiana Tech and could bring that back to Greenville with his ability to get a defense to play well.

Boone is a pretty place I'll give you that. Great campus. I've been there many times.

ECU has been playing D1A or FBS for 40+ years. App has been D1 AA or FCS until the last couple years. Totally different levels of competition.

This will be a fun game for the fans. I just think ECU should be scheduling more games with UNC, NC St, and rekindling Wake and Duke series.

Not with App St and ODU which was announced recently. Just my opinion and that of many Pirate fans.

Skip was definitely a far superior X's and O's HC compared to Ruffin who basically said go get em Lincoln ! We were damn lucky to have Lincoln Riley and the combo of Shane and Justin with a functional Defense at times. Skip had some great defenses with Hudson and that was the last time we had a legitimate DL with CJ Wilson, Linval Joseph, Scotty Robinson etc..

If Mo does not work out I would not mind Holtz coming back but I know some fans have a huge problem with it but I did not blame him taking the USF job at the time. It was the right call for him and his family with his wifes family being down the road from Tampa and his parents in Orlando. I hope Coach Mo works out and leaves ECU because another team snatches him up and not because he crapped the bed and we fire him

I have family in Morgantown and have been going to WVU games since the late 80's. They finally have some Defense to go with their Offense and have the UF Florida and ECU QB's son in Grier playing next year so it could get ugly on our trip to Morgantown. Last time I went to see us play in Morgantown in 2007 we got absolutely crushed.
