Y'all hear that old familiar sound? Edit: RPI #85
Optimism and excitement are back in the air. Albeit I believe people are still cautious but if this team keeps playing the way it is playing I think by seasons end the last game of the season will be sold out. Yes we have been playing crap teams, but we are beating them the way that we should. Contrast that to Opie losing to crap teams constantly over the past four seasons and you now have a renewed optimism in the tiger program. And just wow at the development of Dedric and Markel after just a few months under this man's direction.

Agreed Optimism is abound...
Cautious for sure...I keep kicking the can down the road on being convinced on this team one was or another...

For myself and several season ticket holders that sit around me, the second the guy you call Opie left, Optimism was instantly back. I've said it before here...it's time to get back to the Forum, the team is fun to watch, we are well coached, players play with confidence, Tubby greets and encourages players that are coming out of the game (total opposite of what Joshie did, he ignored the players), lastly, you never know when the Big Smooth will get a triple double, double doubles are almost a lock! Come on down and support the Tigers!!!

The sky got much brighter the day Pastner accepted the Georgia Tech job. I think that we could have hired any of 6 or 8 high school coaches in the Memphis area and gotten better than we were under Wonder Boy. The title was appropriate because you wondered all the time where our coaching had gone.
Tubby will be 200% better at getting on-court wins than the other guy was. Buy some tickets and come on down to the Forum. You will like the product on the floor.

I think Pastners downfall was the bait and switch teams he would put on the floor...
All pre-season long we would be excited about the recruits and potential only to be let down with performance. If Pastner would have had the same results with 3 star recruits he would still be here and most would likely be Ok with him as long as he began to bring in better players.
Tubby came in with a team with 0 expectations so if he does anything with them it will be appreciated.

Great thread. Yes, I think there is optimism for sure. There are absolutely moments that it feels like old times, although it's not totally back yet. I bet it'll be totally back sooner than later.

Been gone 8 months and we still get these posts. BTW, beating crap teams won't get you in the tournament. Cal showed us that.

There's only around 2,300 tickets left for the next home game against USF

Really hope this pans out. College football coming to a close could help.

Maybe Kroger can scalp the rest for $5 and help sell it out.

I honestly expected we'd take a step backward this year. I'm *very* pleasantly surprised.
