Congratulations to the Dukes for their second FCS Championship. (Having been beaten by YSU for national championships in the past, I would imagine most Herd fans were happy with this outcome.

I suspect that almost no one will agree with me, but if we ever went to 16 or if we needed an East Replacement, JMU would be a solid add, if they are interested.

Congrats indeed to the Dukes. I think they'd be a fine addition/conference member but there's no room at the inn. 16 should not happen

From my perspective, which some of my ODU peers may disagree with me, it would be great for our program. Having history in basketball and now in football, it would be a great rivalry (2nd to VCU bball IMO). A rivalry not just in state, but within the conference itself. In regards to football, a JMU v ODU game could take over as the Oyster Bowl we have every year, simliar to UVA and VTech competing in the Commonwealth Cup every year. Also, JMU already has a FBS stadium that seats up to 25,000 and is exploring expanding their BBall arena. Here is an article written by our beat writer that gives some good points as to why they should be called up to the Minor Big Leagues.

http://pilotonline.com/sports/college/el...9b623.html

Again, just my 2cents, but would be great for the conference. Bring on JM03-puke

I was glad to see Tressel as President of YSU lose. They showed him and talked about his 4 National Titles in the 90s. What they didn't talk about was Tressel paying his players at the time and the recruiting violations they found after Tressel took off to Ohio State.

As far as adding JMU, no thanks, we ask once and they said no. No use in asking them on a second date.

No thanks. Besides the fact we don't need to go to 16, no more FCS schools.

You forget our basketball dominance, as well. Just sayin'. La Tech are ODU's Washington Generals. We love you guys. Homecoming game, every time we meet.

That is really funny. You mentioned that you wanted no more 1-AA schools. This 1-AA school is 1-0 versus La Tech in football and 3-1 versus La Tech in basketball since we joined CUSA. So, all your entitled, arrogant bull**** about 1-AA schools being beneath you is just that. You want respect, beat us on the field of play. Otherwise, STFU, you neutered poodle.

If JMU were half as successful as we were transitioning, we'd still have a winning record against you. Suck on that, Cletus.

Dang, calm down dude. This ain't about you. You guys have done pretty well. But we're already being looked down on by outsiders as a bad conference. As good as JMU might be, do you really think we'll get any more respect by adding more FCS schools? It would just open us up to more ridicule (esp from the #FunBelt crowd). Until this year, none of the FCS schools had done too well. This year ODU did pretty well and UTSA made a bowl game, so an improvement from that standpoint. Charlotte got a little better, but still only 4-8.

I'm tired of listening to people calling us the worst FBS conference. Adding more FCS schools won't help that.

JMU athletic budget is $45M...that is much bigger than I think all of CUSA. I think maybe ODU is around $40M.

Um, you do realize the scholarship difference right? Of course it takes a couple years. But once everyone gets on the same schlaorship level, it's just arrogant and foolish and naive to knock down these top fcs schools and think they can't compete.

Odu, ga southern, app st, utsa. Seems like quite a few have had no problem making the transition recently.

Jmu would too. Within 3 years we'd be near the top in any fbs league we might go in. Cusa, mac, sun belt.

I had not heard this. Can you provide some backup? I had heard that the Belch made an offer but JMU turned them down.

That's an impressive athletic budget, not quite AAC but certainly rubbing elbows with teams from the MWC.

When everything hit the fan again in 2012 and conferences started to shift again Bonosky met with ODU, Delaware and JMU at the 2012 Final 4. CUSA wanted to bring those 3 programs in as a package. Both Delaware and JMU declined the offer and ODU was left out. When Wood Seling (ODU AD) got back to Norfolk he started burning up the CUSA phone lines. Theres your short version of what happened.
