Dan is about the best post game press conference guy out there. No coach speak, tells you exactly what he thought, and messes with the press.

I am pretty sure there will be several Fire Floyd signs. Right now this town is in shock at how bad things are. This is the longest losing streak for UTEP since the 1930s. I kind of hope we lose every game so that the UTEP administration will have no choice but to Fire Floyd. I am not sure I could be in the same room with him and not say something about how he has ruined UTEP basketball and is a disgrace to the city and UTEP.

I don't think there is a MIC that Dan ever met, that he didn't like.

Also, they went back and credited Elmore with another asst. which gave him a double double, 28 points, 10 asst.

Asustin Loop Marshall Career 3 point watch:
Tamar Slay (98-02) 251
Keith Veney (95-97) 241 (241 3s in 2 years at Marshall, 409 3s at Lamar and Marshall)
Austin Loop 236

Loop only needs 5 more 3s to tie Keith Veney and 15 to tie, 16 to break Tamar Slay's 3 point mark. He has thrived under D'Antoni, to think if Dan hadn't have been hired Loop would have probably ended up transferring to some DII to never be heard from again. As a freshman under Herrion he played 75 mins and scored 41 points, 33 from 3 or 11 3s.

Even with the terrible call, Tech blew a 14 point lead. Tech is rebuilding but this is the worst loss since Konkol became head coach.

There were blown calls on both ends, and both teams are rebuilding.

Btw, we were without Nick Billingsley for our last 2 games, who's actually our 2nd leading scorer. JR Harris, who's probably our best returning scorer from last season, and only senior in our starting lineup, just came back from a knee injury that had him miss all but 3 games, but he wasn't really ready yet either and only saw very limited action (3 minutes). So you could say we were missing two of our top three scorers. I didn't wanna get into all that but you guys keep bringing up a call in the first half that you didn't like.

The game was won with rebounding, as we out-rebounded you 46-34. We're not a very tall, or even the most athletic team, but we're somehow #32 in the nation in rebounds/game right now. Our kids are scrappy and Coach Henson and staff have them in the right positions at the right time for those missed shots.

It also doesn't help that we apparently don't believe in offensive rebounding. We take a shot and then what happens, happens.

USM 2-1.
Didn't think we'd win 2 in conference all year.
May not win another, but today we are 2-1.
And improving.

If you guys like post game coach comments check out Kermit if you get a chance. Love listening to him after a game, because he breaks down exactly what happened in the game to include why things went well, what didn't and why it turned out the way it did. Goes into detail most casual observers probably don't pick up on during the game. He's like a Youtube recap on the movie you just watched and all the stuff you missed that makes you want to go watch it again.

Kermit has always been one of the best X's and O's and he's very good at talking to it. The question for him was always recruiting. Glad he figured out a recruiting approach that he could coach to.

Lunardi now has CUSA with 2 bids. I assume that is with Marshall winning CUSA and MTSU with an at large. I ran RPI wizard the other day. If Marshall can go 15-3 in CUSA losing to MTSU twice and splitting UAB they would have an RPI avg of around 32. If its 14-4 losing both to MTSU and splitting UAB and WKU we will still have an RPI of around 37. Only way we tumble in the RPI is if we lose to FAU/FIU/UTEP/UTSA/N Texas/USM.

RE: CUSA Basketball -- Conference Play Week Two
That's going to go back to one after we lose another home game this week.

I think Marshall is clicking right now. MT, on the other hand, has been extremely inconsistent over the past couple of weeks. Marshall is the one team that we can't just grind out a win, because they will score too much.

Also, consider this. In two of the three games MT beat Marshall last year the three departed seniors accounted for 47 of the 83 points in the first win and 50 of the 99 in the second one.

In the one we lost, we only scored 66 and those same three players combined for only 19 points. That was the difference and as good as J. Williams has been I don't think he can make up the difference by himself. Close game throughout. Marshall pulls away in the last four and wins by 15.

If both Marshall and MTSU can get though the conference without screwing up a game or two with a bad loss. And we meet in the CUSA championship, I think there is a good chance we could land two.

But both MTSU and Marshall have to take care of business first to have that chance.

Quote's from Jeff Goodman when news broke of Dan D'Antoni hiring in 2014:
Quote:"CUSA Coaches texting me at a furious rate downright giddy by the fact that Marshall hired Dan D'Antoni"

Quote:Everyone in NBA Circles...Along with CUSA coaches -- killing the hire

Quote from Gary Parrish CBS Sports:
Quote:Dan D'Antoni hasn't worked on a college campus in 40 years.

And he received a text from an NBA exe predicting:
Quote:Marshall's hire will be the worst thing you've ever witnessed

Time for some crow for Jeff Goodman, Gary Parrish and the of the so called college basketball analysts who said Dan was worse than the coming of the anti Christ. But we all know that we will never see an apology or even a correction that Dan was a bad hire.

Nah. We will win on Thursday and also win the tournament. You'll get screwed and end up out of NCAA.

(Disclaimer: "we" can mean either team here.)

37 is a good enough RPI to get you a pat on the back from the NCAA but not an at-large. Too many C-USA teams have been left out with that kind of resume. But it's also good enough to in theory get the at-large.

Actually happened to us in 2012. We were the highest rated RPI team left out of the NCAA right around that number.

Marshall isnt getting an at large. Under any circumstance. Well, maybe if they dont lose another game.

We had an RPI of 42 then. And still only a 5 seed in the NIT, which was total BS.

Where did you see I said Marshall would get an at large. You must have a reading comprehension problem. I clearly stated that would be Marshall winning CUSA with MTSU getting an at large.

It def won't be UAB winning any tourney this year. Ive watched a few UAB games. And you are bad and its not just because Norton is out. Your passing is horrid, N Texas constantly stole the ball by just slapping at it. You don't have any consistent shooters on the floor and I'm not impressed at all with Ehsan. You can tell when someone has it, Haas had it, Anderson had it, Bartow had it. Ehsan does not.

The schools I thought Marshall should be scared of this year are scary in a different way. Now I'm just scared they will drop a game to them. As far as WKU, UAB, ODU they don't scare me in thinking they are the better team, they aren't. They might have better individual players but they don't play cohesive basketball.
