National Media picking up on what we've been putting down.

I just don't see this happening. First, in none of these interviews has Les explicitly indicated he is interested in the WMU job, at least in the ones I've watched/read. Each article reads between the lines with some very liberal interpretation of his comments.

Second, he doesn't need to take this job yet. His buyout stipulated that he had to actively pursue other opportunities and he's done that. He was at least rumored to pursue both the Purdue and Houston jobs then interviewed for the Minn job. He obviously didn't get any of those but that's probably enough of an "effort" to satisfy his buyout. At this point he can broadcast/consult for another year and wait for a power 5 opportunity.

It's not about if he'll come. It's about the new expectations for the program. Have some. And they'd better not be Tim Lester.

It appears we are talking about two different things. At no point did I say that I don't expect us to go after Les. I think KB should. But having the expectations of going after candidates of this caliber and having them be in a position to accept or decline the offer are two completely separate issues.

And I agree that Tim Lester is not meeting the new bar of the expectations of our program...in my humble opinion.

Major, are you a Houston guy? Who is your ideal HC?

You know what else she wasn't showing? Any RTB paraphernalia behind her. Probably why she hadn't been interviewed yet: had to cleanse the workspace of stuff that had been Peej'd on03-lmfao

He would not be happy here and we would always have to worry about him leaving for next open Big Ten or similar job.

Fleck was looking for the next open Big Ten or similar job. So was Meyer. So was Campbell. So was Kelly. So was Jones. So was Kill. So was Pinkel. So was Hayes. So was Schembechler.

Life in the MAC.

Whoever we hire will likely leave after 2-3 seasons, if successful.

As long as they leave after delivering a MAC Championship, and beating CMU, so what? Not much we can do about it.

RE: Les Miles - Yes
Miles would create instant gratification. Getting back in the sports headlines is tempting.

But there are a lot of things to consider aside from this. Would LM be going through the motions, just keeping the seat warm for a year before taking a P5 job (regardless of our 2017 record). Or, at his age, would he enjoy the ride and want to stick around, Solich style?

Personally, a proven successful D2 or FCS head coach would be my preference.

RE: Les Miles - Yes
Even if Miles was a seat filler, he could win a MAC title, salvage a recruiting class for 17 and may have the dignity to take a job in December so we can get a Coach in who can work on our 2018 recruits with 2 months before signing day. Perhaps we can as mention get a coach in waiting for a year. Or maybe the power 5 do not want a 64 year old coach (age discrimination) to rebuild a poor program and he stick around 3-5 years and retires

It's almost like she hasn't done much of anything at all since he left.

This hire will be her last, so I expect that she is looking for someone longer term. Legacy.

And gotta figure Dunn won't veto this time, being months from retirement. So guessing Lester's gotta be the clear frontrunner here.

Good point.

If Lester's bringing back Schaefer for DC, you know he'll bring back Moreland as asst. coach/TE coach.

Yes. Cubit as OC. Ryan Cubit as QB coach. Oh, I love it. Retro uniforms, too! :)
