Win this game and we can build some serious momentum going into the crosstown. I'm optimistic they had a good week of practice and come out hungry. Let's eat em alive in the paint! Time for Kyle Washington to re-emerge.

That being said, I'm still expecting a loss.

Why are Rhode Island and Butler potential "launch games" but Iowa State was not?

The Iowa State win was just to get momentum back off the ground, a must-win of sorts. The Houston game isn't a must win but it would go along way in solidifying this team's status as one of the top in the country. Not just a top 20-25 team. The ultimate goal being a top 4 seed in the NCAA tournament.

This is not the main point of your post, but still, I love how sanctimonious college basketball fans can be. Sampson broke the rules on making phone calls to recruits. Now, he broke those rules again after he was caught the first time. But come on, the seedy underbelly of college basketball is . . . making unauthorized phone calls?

Anyway, Houston's Chicken Knowles has a great name, and he was the Homeschool Player of the Year in high school, which is also great and a thing I didn't know existed.

I have friends from IU who suggested what Sampson was penalized for there was merely the tip of the iceberg. The fallout eventually took down their university president. Phone calls may have been the documented violation. Interesting to note though, the longest section of his Wikipedia biography is dedicated to "NCAA Violations" so I don't think it's a stretch to suggest he has earned an unsavory reputation. His career trajectory might suggest the same: OK to IN to...Houston.

Sampson is not my favorite coach and his list of violations ain't exactly short. With that said, the president stuff at IU had absolutely nothing to do with the basketball program. You can bank on that.

Houston fan here.

Rob Gray might not play tomorrow. If he doesn't suit up this will get ugly quick.

If he does, and assuming he is his normal self, we have a chance at an upset.

You guys are a bad match up for us. Big physical teams give us trouble.

Looking forward to a top 25 matchup.

Go Coogs

Yes, I stand corrected on that point after talking to an IU friend. It was the Athletic Director who had to fall on his sword in the aftermath.

I read nothing (reply, thread, etc) started by Duane. That is why God gave us a "Mark this forum read" button.

I think we will take Houston tomorrow night in front of their capacity crowd. If we do, not only will UC be 3-0 in the conference but that loss on the road to Butler looks better and better after they beat previously undefeated #1 Villanova at home by 8. They beat us by 10. Butler (13-2) is tied for second (2-1) in the potent Big East. Guess who's in first? Xavier. Sweet Lord we need to beat those guys on the 26th. Damn't man!

I'm surprised ol' Tilman Fertitta isn't paying everyone a crisp c-note to fill up the Hof.

That Gray kid can play. Not sure who we put on him but he's a tough match up for anybody.

I'm very happy with what Scott is giving us lately. He's no Clark yet, but glad he's ramping it up at the right time.

If Washington was playing better of late, I wouldn't be worried at all. But, he's regressed, now that opponents know how to push him around and get in his head. As you say, Scott/Brooks (and Quad too IMO) better be all the more ready to roll.

If Clark can't play Tre has to play well. Houston likes to play small and Kyle and Brooks have a tough time when the defense gets stretched and they have to step out on the perimeter.
