He's definitely improved and deserves accolades for that...
However, all the talk about his three point shot is overrated...
He's only making 1.2 - 3PT FG per game. His strength is finishing on fast breaks, cutting to the basket and his pull up jumper. Sure we'd all love to see him make more threes, but making the second most threes on a very poor three point shooting team (30% 3PT FG% team rank #315 out of 347 D1 Teams) is like being the second best fisherman on a terrible fishing boat. It won't pay the bills or win many games.
Crawford makes 5+ 2PT FG per game which is his bread and butter.
The reason for his poor shooting last year was his inconsistent playing time, lack of confidence, rushed shots and also poor shooting technique, but to place so much emphasis on fixing the latter does him and the team a disservice to reflecting the whole truth.
His minutes are 33+ min/game and his confidence is up which I think helps his entire game more. Plus he's hustling like hell and thrives after steals and on fast breaks!
He still needs to shoot them though
Nobody tried to guard him last year
30% isn't awful btw especially if you consider how many probably come at the end of the shot clock

His three point percentage went from 13% to 33.33%, that is a massive jump and very impressive. 1/3 is not amazing but it is good enough to keep the defense honest which opens up the floor tremendously. Last year, teams were giving him the Tony Allen treatment and not even acting like he was playing offense. This year they have to respect his ability to make a perimeter shot. So, it is a pretty big deal...

Tubby knows people and being able to relate to people helps just as much as basketball knowledge.

I'm sure he's about to make a tired argument.
Dude and a few others REFUSE to accept that criticizing a guy's recruiting has nothing to do with an opinion about his on the floor and in practice coaching.
Only a few oddballs still beat the drum that the staff did an acceptable job last spring/summer bringing in talent.
They didn't get crapped on. They got called out.
Big difference.

Heck, he did it in about a month. Great to see it, as I've always loved Markel, and believed in his potential.
And.....I believe there's still bigger and better things ahead.

Markel returned to where he was his freshmen season as far as shooting the 3...He is confidence was damaged by mr positive.

Oh well, good for Markel - dude is going to be key for next year too.
We could have strung together some very deep runs.

The way I saw it, Markel was one of the few fearless players/ bright lights in the dimmest of times. You could tell a spark was still there, though it was dormant.
I was really counting on him coming back to life.
And. he. did.
