The basketball product has been better than CUSA, football was better than CUSA this season, and I think CUSA's commissioner is absolutely terrible at her job. If realignment occurred again, I wouldn't trust her. to make wise decisions... I'm afraid she would bring in sucky programs from large markets, instead of bringing in actual solid programs... that's where Benson excelled. Bringing in App State, Georgia Southern, and Coastal Carolina were smart moves since those programs have proved they can win, despite not being in huge markets.
Plus, I see way more Sun Belt football/basketball/baseball games on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN3 than I do CUSA, which is significant.
cusa does have that tv deal with espn the ocho, or whatever bum streaming app or something. I mean, hey, at least before that, people would have to have satellite, and pay an extra 30 bucks a month for some obscure sports package to get whatever the hell channel they were on then. lol
Al Jazerra Sports is literally one of their big TV partners.

Which really works when you're in the B12 footprint. (A&M don't count)
Haha, just nudge that line over 1 state. I still miss Texas A&M in the Disfunctional 12.
What I was getting at is the MAC is essentially in the Big10 footprint, and the Mountain West is essentially in the PAC12 footprint (before conferences went nuts chasing TV money). It's the model that got those conferences where they are before the big tv money showed up and it worked. I love some of our conference rivals in the Sunbelt. I think we're ALL on our way up as evidenced by the OOC and bowl record, but let's not bash our heads into the wall reinventing the wheel here.

Pretty much. I don't want to blow up this conference for a "Dream Conference" that could be in danger of being poached from again.
Best thing to do is focus on the continued upswing of The Belt. It'd be great to get some kind of continuous OOC deals with like minded schools. SBC/CUSA challenge? USM, Marshall, WKU, LaTech, UAB could all have rotating OOC games with Belt schools. Kinda like an Access Bowl buster to keep the best teams in the spotlight and to make a case against 2 lose AAC schools. Heck, get the MAC involved with Ohio, Toledo, BG, etc.
No need to blow up a conference on a dream.

I've thought about that for a long time. Logistics would have to be worked out as I'd hate to lose an annual UNT game, but I think that'd be a way to generate further excitement for both conferences which have a lot in common and some history.

What channel are you guys games shown on? I noticed ESPN 3 carries some of your bball games. Are most of your bball and football games on ESPN 3? Our tv deal is so lousy.

Yes, a lot of streaming on ESPN3. Works out well for me as I'm a cord cutter. It's where I think future broadcast rights will end up. Targeted marketing.
