RE: Next head coach
I think they all have a good upside. PJ was special and we may not have another coach available that can do "that" again, but we can have a coach that will make us a consistent power in group of 5 and push the big 5. A lot of the search comes down to what are we paying. 90% of the coaches in the country are interested if we are paying the proposed 2 or 3 million a year we think PJ would have been offered (hence the buzz around the convention). 5% of coaches nationally would be interested if we are offering "MAC" pay around 400-600K.

I wouldn't be that happy with it, but I'd give it a chance and Root for it to work well (but wouldn't bet anything that it would pan out well).

Quote:Thats a good thing although not sure it's a huge upgrade over Pinkham given familiarity of the current roster.

I don't think it'd be an upgrade at all. For the long run, maybe it'd be about the same, possibly better. But certainly out of the gates, it'd be a step back.

RE: Next head coach
I have no idea who would be a good coach or the best coach.

I do know that Kathy will do her best to get the best candidate.

I do know I'll support that decision...that coach throughout the football season.

I do know I will always be grateful to those student athletes wearing the brown and gold.

I do know that I'll cheer on the Broncos in EVERY sport.

GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

I think you're paying Lester closer to $400K than $3M.

The absolute delusion from some of you during this coaching search is honestly one of the most amazing things i've ever seen.

Can't fault people there were multiple articles on it. I'm sure reporters were not getting it from our message board.

If the offer was 2.5 million he may have been interested. Same with most of the others. If the amount of $350,000 mentioned in another post is correct, Wheatley and the other big 10 coaches all would have pulled their name because they are being paid more now. Potentially the James Madison coach is paid more after a national championship.

It was pretty entertaining watching the drama play out here. But as far as delusion, you folks on your board are the champions. We can't compete with that.

Half of the people on the NIU board think NIU should be in the Big 12.

1 week and the best we could do was a guy we said no to last time. Reeks of desperation. Wish I could get my season ticket deposit back

Why - because he's accurate and that bothers you?

"Rah! Rah! Rah! Sis boom bah! Go Lester go! You can do it...because you bleed Brown and Gold!" Does that make you feel better now? Now that you feel better w homer feel good crap, some of us will go back to evaluating the hire on its merits.

At the highest point in our program's history, we just hired a position coach from a Big Ten staff that was fired. Four years ago Lester wasn't qualified and now he's hired after being OC at Syracuse (on a staff that was fired after winning 3 games in 2015) and QB coach at Purdont.

Go do what you have to do in order to make yourself feel better about the hire. I'll pass.
