My feeling is that the college FB playoff will expand to 8 and THEN the P5 would be pretty much have a decent shot at getting in for most years. Right now, the final 4 is virtually impossible for a G5 team to get in.

I would almost think you have to go to 16 teams; give a spot to all 10 Conference champs, with 6 at large teams .... Otherwise, I think the P5 schools find a way NOT to let any G5 schools into the playoffs ... imo

Rudd calls it the worst idea of 2016

Aresco is firmly against it and frankly it just won't happen.

Maybe it will be a G4 playoff, thereby relegating us, defacto, to the P6.

Grasping at straws. It's not that the idea is bad. It's just not gonna bring us closer to what most of y'all want.

I liked Aresco's stand on it.

Nice Memphis reference too!

I hear you. But it's not really admitting we're not competitive. It's admitting that the P5 won't let us in their tourney. Not quite the same thing.

Maybe not admitting the competitive difference, but that would be the perception. And as we all know - perception is the beginning of a slippery slope...

How does that change from the current perception? Are we not already sliding down that slippery slope? I mean, do any P5 fans view us as equals? Even Old Miss and Vandy fans perceive us at a lower level.

I guess that frames up our official position then.

If there is leverage to be gained, I don't know the harm in supporting it. But if it's a serious idea, then maybe not.

It wouldn't change the current perception - it would cement it in the public eye. Just like FCS vs. FBS is seen.

THIS^^^. It would be accepting defeat. Maybe, at some point that would make sense, but not for the AAC...yet.

RE: G5 playoff
I say create the playoff and let the G5 champ play the P5 champ for the national championship game.

If the P5 decides not to play the G5, simply declare that there are 2 National Champions for the year.

Bowl games are becoming a joke anyway unless you are in the CFP.
