DL, OL and LB
How many of these were redshirts this year and should make a contribution next season?

Only 3 Sr on the DL and 1 on the OL this year. 3 Sr at LB and one could be getting extra year due to injury.

Hard to believe how young we were in key positions this year.

1 Jacoby Hill DL 6-3 211 Fr.
38 Jonathan Wilson DL 6-3 265 Fr.
90 John Tate DL 6-4 290 Fr.
94 Freddie Dillard DL 6-3 265 Fr.
99 Chase Joy DL 6-3 292 Fr.

16 Nehemiah Augustus LB 6-0 205 Fr.
35 Tim Hart LB 6-1 220 Fr.
55 Bryce Huff LB 6-3 245 Fr.

53 Dustin Woodard OL 6-2 285 Fr.
63 Ryan Young OL 6-3 265 Fr.
74 Jonathan Timmons OL 6-5 320 Fr.

Nehemiah Augustus was redshirted. I'm a bit uncertain where he will be used on defense. He is versatile and has a heart and desire as big as Texas. He won a scout team award at the Tiger banquet.

Yeah, I think Wilson's sort of a lock at this point.

There was talk in early September that Jackson Dillon (6-5, 245, Sr) would be petitioning for another year due to medical issues. He is still on the current roster. Is there any news on that?

53 Dustin Woodard OL 6-2 285 Fr.
63 Ryan Young OL 6-3 265 Fr.
74 Jonathan Timmons OL 6-5 320 Fr.

Wait... We have a DL that wears the #1? I wonder what's the story behind that.

They all need to step up next year, after that pitiful bowl performance.

Pretty sure Jackson has another year if he and the coach want it. Question is, do they want it?

What happened to the other tall, long haired white dude on our defense? Don't recall seeing him much either this season.

RE: DL, OL and LB
This is the problem with the OP not actually knowing who played and who didn't. We don't lose any starters at LB and lose only one starter at OL. 3/4 of the people he listed were redshirted, but I bet he couldn't tell you who.

We have signed a good class of OL, have some pretty solid DL as well. The mid-season enrollee at LB could be very good and will push for time. Our redshirts will provide great depth.

To say our DL was bad because of the bowl game, also indicates that you might not have watched much this season. Our best DL to start the season left the team, the top reserve at NG was injured and we lost another DE during the game. We were gassed because we weren't playing even two deep at most positions during that game, against a top 5 offense.
We were able to play two and sometimes three deep on the DL the first half of the season, but were severely limited during the last couple of games.

The future is very bright and I think you will see a noticeable improvement in our defense next season.

and I have seen plenty of single digit DL in NCAA, but very few in the 30's. I thought that one was more odd. Didn't know if he was originally going to get a look at LB?!!

What do you feel will be the two-three deep depth chart in the DL and the Defensive backfield going into the 2017 season?

But we have been constantly near the bottom all year in rushing defense (93rd),sacks (89th) and TFL (109th) all season. A lot of that had to do with DL play.

Yeah I have to admit our DL play was horrible at best this year. If this team had good DL play this year we would have probably been a ten win team . We need to sign 4 quality DL in this class.
