If you are going to mourn, mourn the children at St
Jude. I feel like society can't handle death now.

I think the reason why celebrities are mourning more often is because they seemed to be part of our family who have been in our homes. Like we knew them a long time growing up like they are a part of us in one way or the other.

I'd say don't mourn them because they were just people. And you don't know what they were like with the cameras off.

I think the thread is for us too vent our anger at the Grim Reaper. Sadly, he just claimed Carrie Fisher. :(

Cocaine claimed Carrie a long time ago. It's only now the bill has come due.

She looked about 75 years old at the end, didn't she?

Debbie Reynolds wasn't the irresistible Molly Brown in real life. She was actually pretty racist. She believed in keeping minorities in their place. She is credited with saying that Mexicans for the most part (she was from El Paso) should be trained in the domestic trades and not bother with education. For that I didn't place her in very high regard.

But. Too bad she died nonetheless.

That is what I am talking about. Our society has lost its grasp on death.

Oh relax, people are just sad about losing, basically, what amounts to a part of their life. They're sad about the deaths, it's not like they're acting hysterical and falling all over themselves.

Celebrity to beer pong players

FOX 32 NEWS - The creator of the Red Solo Cup died on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the age of 84.

Robert Leo Hulseman lived in Northfield, Illinois, but spent much of his time in Scottsdale, Arizona. He began working for his father’s business – the Solo Cup Company – at the age of 18. He then worked his way to the top to become president and CEO.

These two are far more tragic than the deaths of celebrities who contributed to their deaths from illegal drug use over the years.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the most significant death of 2016. The death of America which will happen because we elected Donald J. Trump.

Hey, there's Canada. Why don't you try it?

Fort Bend, the 20's are calling. They said they need more melodrama in their silent films.

RE: Grim Reaper Should Hang Himself
Celebrities passing away in 2016 are no more than any other year. I'm not sure why people seem to think that it is an unusual year? Maybe we do this every year?

I'm sorry to hear about these loses but really the losses we all suffer personally are so much more important. My sister-in-law lost her father and two brothers (she had already lost her only other brother a few years ago) between May and July of this year.

Seems like more of the prominent ones than usual and at relatively young ages.

Well consider when celebrity became so big. The age of television and the rise of Rock and Roll both started in the late 50s. There was a huge growth in the number of public figures when disposable income increased. Add to that the life span of rock musicians is shorter that the general population. Opiate abuse deaths are out of control and average life expectancy, especially for us white folks, is declining. A lot of people die each year. Actors from the TCM era are pretty much in their 80s now. Those still living are going to pass away at a rapid rate in the years to come. Rock musicians from the 50s and 60s aren't going to live forever (excepting Keith Richards) as they are in their 70s now and like I said their life expectancy isn't as high as the general population. You will see them passing in great numbers going forward. We will always have our younger actors and musicians that die young from drug abuse, alcoholism, or natural causes like cancer, where we bemoan their (our) loss way too soon. The numbers might be a little higher this year compared to the last couple but I don't think it is unusual, just a result of the aging of our country and the large number of people we consider "celebrities".
