Great to see him play so well. This team will need him to contribute. He doesn't have to take over a game by dropping 20+ points, just give some quality minutes. Word is obviously not a juggernaut, but it all starts with confidence.

Good game from Clergeot, we need that kind of production off the bench. And can't help but say, another one of those "slow down" games Tubby is known for.......05-stirthepot

The next 3 will be a better indicator of if he's going to be a key piece moving forward.

His stellar performance against Incarnate Word doesn't convince you?

If Incarnate Word was the barometer, then Jimario's 2 points and 1 rebound performance would have me quaking.

It's best to wait and see prior to opening ones mouth and sticking both feet in deep. But hey it's a message board and one has every right to proclaim this or that without waiting to allow things to play out.

Clearly Keon has the ability to stick the ball in the hole.

He's certainly going to get opportunities to earn minutes. When defenses collapse inside to protect against the Lawsons inside, the Tigers will have to make some shots from the perimeter.

He may have shown Tubby that he can be another body Tubby can put in to give other guys some rest or sub for a player in foul trouble for a few minutes if need to.

Not specifically speaking of Keon or anyone else for that matter, but it kills me how people judge any player or coach based on small samplings, good or bad.

Remember how bad Troy Aikman looked as a rookie. There was a Steve Walsh/Troy Aikman controversy for a while after Aikman stunk it up as a rookie.

My dad told me about one of his friends talking about how shiiiiity and overrated Mickey Mantle was after going 0-4 with 3 strikeouts during his rookie campaign in a game that they went to see.

Truth is Keon is likely not as good as he looked last night nor as bad as he's looked in some games early on. Needs some floor time and some confidence before I'll pass any judgement. I just want him to be an option and then progress from there.

Honestly Keon made shots...That is what people notice.

But in zone defenses and switches many times he seemed confused and he turned it over a couple of times when he shouldn't have. He still has a long way to go, but if he is going to stick 3's he will get time to work on the other aspects.

Tubby said he played extremely well on the defensive end of the floor in this game.
What Keon did was prove that he's got the ability to contribute. Can he be consistent? Who knows but he's young and he's got the ability to play well. That's what I take from this game.

I fully expect him to be the next Allen Iverson.

Wow, Memphis fans have really changed. We used to pull for our players to do well. Now, we mock them if they have a good game.

Look, I know we've had to suffer through several years of disgusting crap with this program and its leadership, but it's time to put it all behind us -- just a bad memory -- and get back to being Memphis fans again.

I'm with you MTigerBlue. Great post. I like Keon. He has the ability to score, and that's a good thing. I don't get the being overly critical and analytical crap. The past seven years sucked, and since it's over, it seems like people would rally behind the Tigers and Tubby. My household is. As soon as Joshie left I was so excited and back on board and ready to go.

I like this team and think we can finish in the top three in our league, which probably puts us in that tournament that goofball couldn't get us in the past two seasons.

Come on follow the narrative. As Tiger fans we must compare every struggling guard to Andre "Turnover"

Lighten up Francis. No one is mocking players. If anything, my post was a jab at the OP. Keon will probably turn out to be a fine player, but just because he blew up on a team that most people have never heard of proves nothing.

I would differ to say that it proves the kid has some ability. Like I said in an earlier post, can he be consistent in some form or fashion? Who knows, time will tell. To me the best thing is is that he's a freshman and experience will always help. Is he a star? Likely no, but if he can contribute, great.
