If Minnesota boycotts Holiday Bowl, NIU would be next in line & "likely would play" if decision reached in next 48 hours, source told @ESPN

Uh oh. What did the Huskies do to Minnesota to keep the bowl streak alive? :)

RE: NIU to the Holiday Bowl?
Bowl payout last year was $2,825,000.

Worth the solid ass kicking? Possibly, if that money could go towards buying out a contract.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be ironic if it was done for that purpose (IF the Minn players stick to their word, which, I doubt they will, but there's definitely a chance) -- that NIU pulls the upset with Carey?

RE: NIU to the Holiday Bowl?
Well, looks like NIU wasn't doing any spy vs spy stuff to get Minn nixed. But here's the reason why:

http://deadspin.com/report-minnesota-foo...1790167029
Quote:However, an investigation by the University of Minnesota’s Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action office resulted in the fresh wave of suspensions, with Ray Buford, Carlton Djam, Seth Green, KiAnte Hardin, Dior Johnson, Tamarion Johnson, Kobe McCrary, Antonio Shenault, Antoine Winfield Jr., and Mark Williams all suspended for at least the Holiday Bowl.

The victim says that a series of Minnesota football players raped her the night after the Gophers’ first game of the season, starting with Carlton Djam.
Quote: After Djam, others followed. She told police she saw a line of men waiting to take turns.

“I was removing myself from my mind and my body to help myself from the pain and experience going on,” she testified.

She estimated there were at least a dozen men. “I was shoving people off of me,” she testified. “They kept ignoring my pleas for help. Anything I said they laughed. They tried to cheer people on.”
She then called her sister and mother, who advised her to go the hospital. Shortly after, she called the police and they began an investigation. However, Djam insisted that it was consensual, and he showed the court 90 seconds worth of videos from that night which apparently convinced a police investigator that the alleged victim was “lucid” and “fully conscious.” Criminal charges were never filed in the case, and the Hennepin County Attorney’s office declined to prosecute.

Yikes. Sounds like a lot of drama going on over there. Seth Green -- man, that has trouble written all over it. Minnesota could end up, with suspensions and all, punting the ball on this game. Minnesota better decide quick. Game's 10 days from Saturday.

RE: NIU to the Holiday Bowl?
Of course the Holiday Bowl is in San Diego. That would make three trips to SD in four years.

Sure, anything is possible, but Washington State is really good. This team beat Oregon, Stanford, Arizona, and Arizona State among others. Mike Leach vs. Rod Carey is like little league coach squaring off against major league manager.

All for it if they lose and fire Carey with the payday.

As an alum of both schools. A fan of both schools. And someone who has watched both a fair amount this year...this would be an ugly game. Very ugly.

But...I'm excites!!!

The press out here Coug country are already talking about the change in teams.

RE: NIU to the Holiday Bowl?
I hope we luck into this game and get to play! I don't care if the game gets lopsided. It's great for the players (who want to play) and great for most of the fans. Yes of course I want NIU to play well and try to pull off the upset, but if it doesn't happen the kids get an extra game and the school gets extra exposure. Plus money. And I'm sure if the game was bad the announcers would makes a few excuses like "NIU had late notice" and "It's hard to prepare when you think your season is over" for the few fans worried about NIU getting embarrassed

OH. I want this so bad. I want the old-school Titan to take out the PAC12 so bad. Plus, it'd be an unrecorded win for the MAC over the B1G. :)

RE: NIU to the Holiday Bowl?
Assuming it happens, how excited would the Washington State player be to play NIU. I'm certain there would be a let down on their side whereas our players might actually be excited to play. Who knows but it would be blind luck if we did play.

Wazzu would likely cream NIU, but Oregon and Arizona were both bad this year lol. I don't think asu was any good either.
