Gorbechev Interview on US/Russia
Found his take on Crimea interesting; he asserts that Crimea was administratively moved to be under Ukranian control by Nikita Kruschev in the old USSR, and that it is being returned to its original home.

Also amazing to see such an iconic man in history as he has aged:

This will be news to Trump since he didn't even know that Russia had invaded. 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

If Ukraine didn't feel the Crimea was worth fighting for, then it's best to let it go. They should strip every piece of mobile value out of Russia loving east Ukraine as well and consolidate their border.

Maybe Ukraine should throw in Chernoble and call it a day?

Wouldn't that be nice.

Long been a sore point for Russians. Of course Gorbachev could have changed that.

Because they had an interim government, crimea may be sovereign ukrainian territory but fighting a war there is like fighting a war on Russian home soil. Russia is a significantly larger country, that is a territory where Russia has the upper hand, and crimea needs massive reform to unf*ck their ****** up bureaucracy. not to mention Obama wasn't willing to support them getting into a military entanglement with russia.

ukraine is struggling trying to hold the eastern territories. if they can't win decisively there then they never had a military chance with crimea. Plus everyone saw the result with Georgia and knew it would only be Georgia 2.0

RE: Gorbechev Interview on US/Russia
Although against it in principle Ukraine should consolidate it's borders so it doesn't have many Russians within them.

Western Ukraine can be another Poland, but the Russians among them aren't amenable to Western ways. Russians just seem so corruptible and most want strong men dictatorships. Better for Ukraine to part ways with them and become a sovereign state with no Russian interference. Granted, even the Kiev region is RussifiEd to an extent, but the Lviv region clearly shows westernization, probably because it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
