Assuming he is going to Texas, does Houston offer Applewhite the HC job, and does Applewhite stay, even if Herman ask to join him in Texas?

Applewhite has a pending lawsuit at Texas. He can't go back there

Can't see Applewhite wanting to be the OC at UT again.

So was the LSU thing just a ploy to up the ante with Texas?

I'm relieved that we won't spending ridiculous money on a guy that finished 4th in our own division.

Philip Montgomery or Lincoln Riley are no-brainers, and likely upgrades.

That and to get UT moving. Texas tends to make things long and drawn out. This sped UT up faster than I've seen them move before.

I don't think it was a ploy. I think it was the consolation prize if Texas didn't offer him. Herman strung LSU along until he heard definitively from Texas.

Btw, next time a hot AAC coach is in line for a top P5 job, can we please not have all the threads explaining why the coach will stay at his AAC school?

That still boggles my mind. You plowed under both OU and Louisville, and yet finished 4th in a 6-team division. And all 3 losses were inside the division.

Tough division.

Define top. You all said he was gone to USCe and Georgia, and were wrong.

Nope. Not as long as people are bored and they have time to kill.

Who is "you all," paleface? Wasn't me.

It was pretty obvious from the beginning that Texas was Herman's dream job. You can't get any more "top" than that, and still, some of your guys were saying he would stay, even yesterday.
