Troy is a 27 point favorite which is probably about right to be honest... if Troy doesn't win by 3 scores I might be concerned

Withers is throwing future players into the fray to give them experience. Started 20 freshmen last week and this week?.......

No Jones.

I hate to see a coach throw in the towel, but I'm sure it's for the best in the long run.

Does Troy suffer a big letdown this week after last week's disappointment?

No, no they do not.

RE: TROY @ Texas State discussion thread
A friend works with the father of a freshman on the team. Withers basically told the junoirs and seniors that they aren't his type of players and is looking to replace all of them. So we are 20 short on scholarship, had upperclassmen quit, and now telling the older players that they aren't really seen as part of the team. No wonder the team is god awful. Hopefully, his total rebuild will pay off. If it doesn't he will be gone when his contract is up and we will have to start all over. Sounds like our basketball mess.

What in the world does he hope to accomplish by saying that? Surely there are some guys that contribute next year as Sr's.

Maybe he took a look at our culture of sucking and decided to do a total reboot.

The kid seems to like Withers and there is buy in from the underclassmen. I guess he his willing to risk his career on a huge gamble.

RE: TROY @ Texas State discussion thread
My god, there are 16 seniors, most of whom have contributed this year and we have 23 Juniors, many who contributed. Some of these guys have actually been our better players this year. That's a bunch of players that may choose to leave now.
Loyd - LB - top 5 in FBS in tackles
Anyama - vgood but injured
King - leading receiver, injured in bus accident
McDowell, Guidry, Luna, Schrade, Berry, French and Printz.

RE: TROY @ Texas State discussion thread
I'm sure if they buy in, he will play them. Just means if you are a junior backup or are only playing because of injuries and lack of depth, you could be easily replaceable. I doubt he'd give up on Loyd, King, Luna, Schrade, or Anyama but at this point who the eff knows. According to his son, Schrade is well liked.

He also said there is someone on the team, didn't know the name, that is red shirting but is a baller on the d line. apparently hes so good he man handles a lot of guys and they can't practice with him because it screws up the offense too much. If he isn't playing and Withers dislikes redshirts, he must be a transfer and is forced to sit out.

This guy, Grant Lanza, is DL. He's a transfer, but FCS Robert Morris. No 2016 stats though. Maybe that's him and Withers just decided to hold him out?

Then this one, Samuel Azie who is a Fr DE, but he doesn't seem to fit

I wouldn't worry to much about the next 2...

we will likely be a 10 win team going into a bowl

a 10 or 11 win Troy team going into recruiting plus the New Stadium expansion coming off the ground will be HUGE in recruiting.
